PSS employees here a long time-how often do layoffs occur?

Are there reps that have been here for ten years and are layoffs a big concern when coming to work here? Worried about the AstraZeneca Movartik launch then being laid off if it doesn't take off.

AZ csa contract was for a year and has been extended. It started in'09. There was an expansion and then a small layoff. Anything can happen. All contracts are different.

if at all possible, stay away from Publicis. They are not a very good company to work for. You will never find a company who cares less about it's employees. I warned you

Agree, they treat employees like dirt, management is incompetent, unskilled and pompous. Truly a horrible place to work. You just have to read any of the PSS threads and they all say the same thing. It is on the cheap dump.

U hear what I hear? Crappy pay and little else.

You are not too bright....

Base is in the 60s, bonus 10-15, 7k for the car, 3k for 401k, 3k for gas, benefits worth about 10k...that's over 100k is total comp....

It's a very good company although the stability is not there. Still, they usually hire back if you want back in....other companies you might get another 25-50k in overall comp, but that is not much when you consider the cult like atmosphere that these companies offer and they are not stable either. There is no such thing as stability anymore.

Also, we even though you may make more at other companies, you will pay higher taxes, so the difference isn't that great.

Can't wait until you get downsized and you realize that your best opportunity to feed your family is a contact position....perhaps they you will change your diapers and grow up and understand that a job is just a job....and it only matter that the job you have can help you survive and take care of your responsibilities.

Until then, you will just be another diaper wearing, Kool aid drinking, jack ass.

No, until then you are just an unemployable, dimwitted, low paid, CSO hack who is not competent or smart enough to get a real job. Don''t judge the rest of the world by your loser life, loser. LOL

You have not been around the industry very long or you would not say what you are saying.

I say, watch your words.......

Within 5 years, 95% of pharma reps and their managers will either be completely gone from this industry....or, if they are lucky, transformed into a so called CSO hack. You'll be lucky if you have a choice when your day comes.

+1
These "manufacturer" reps are truly living in fantasy island with Riccardo and his little man if they don't see this coming.

Pride comes before the fall.

My good friend works as an HR specialist for pharma companies and she tells me they get tonssss of resumes from drug reps bc of the same story.. they got laid off!! She said it's like a quarterly thing and it happens all throughout the year. I know 2-3 reps personally that were laid off recently or will be laid off. Nothing is stable in this industry whether contract or non contract. It's better to start your own business doing something else.

Well, if you want to stay in the industry, then go contract because everything is moving to contract my friends.

The ones that are going to be always be OK in this industry, are those willing to relocate. So, don't settle down in one area, if you want to stay in pharma...rent, so you will have the flexibility to move if necessary.

If you are in a hot job market area...top 10 city...you will be fine. There are tons of good jobs in these cities.

The ones that get hurt the most are those living in cities less than 200,000.....because you have a lot of educated people to compete against vs. not many jobs.

Yes, well...I am going to have to disagree with you on that.

There are not only more opportunities in pharmaceutical sales in larger cities, but there are opportunities that are more abundant across many sales industries, and therefore, pharmaceutical sales isn't even a highly coveted job in areas like NYC, LA, or Chicago. There are many jobs in these cities that are better than pharmaceutical sales, in pay and in less micro management.

I have lived in LA, NYC, and spent a lot of time in Chicago....and I am telling you the truth.
