Promeris Dangers

Has anyone heard about some of the dangers with Promeris? Some of my accounts have asked me about the use of amitraz with diabetics, and the fact that it can reduce insulin production. I have also had accounts tell me that they have had dogs that are extremely lethargic after accidental ingestion. I will not negatively sell, but I would like to be able to answer these concerns with some accurate information, and I cannot find a label online.

Here we go. You guys didn't pick up the product so now you're going to grab at straws looking for a way to negative sell (regardless of what you say).

Yes, dogs can become lethargic upon ingestion. Good thing it's a topical. Keep it out of the lick zone and no problem. The product is not absorbed so no problem for diabetics.

That's what I needed to know. I appreciate your response, and there is no grabbing for straws here. I will share that info when I am asked about it and can now give an honest response. Don't get so defensive. Some of us out here will sell on the quality, safety and efficacy of the products we have. I just needed a straight answer. There are 230 reps out here, and we all do things a little different. Keep that in mind while you stereotype "you guys."

First - Promeris seems to doing what the company says it will do.
Also, it does not appear to have any more issues than any other topical.
But...be careful....
A topical product not absorbed? Since when?
Every topical is absorbed it just depends on the amount of time it takes to be metabolized and how long the molecule is found in detectable levels. Also, just because a drug is not found in detectable levels doesn't mean it is not there. We just may not have a technically capable test to detect extremely low levels.
Too many companies with topicals use that slogan, "It is not absorbed because it is a topical."

If you were truly just looking for product info you would not have named this thread "Promeris Dangers." I was kind of curious about how many sales calls a day the average Butler rep makes. Should I title it "Child Molesting Baby Killers and their average work day - Question?"

NOT trying to be negative my ass.

There's data. It's not absorbed.

Well we ought to thank our lucky stars that there aren't any multi-pet homes in the United States. Otherwise we'd have to worry about the chance of a diabetic dog licking it off the back of another. ...Oh wait...we do! So is it absorbed then, or is it just applied topically to the tongue?

If this product were absorbed, it would be a systemic product and would be regulated by the FDA (like Revolution). It is not absorbed, not a systemic product, and regulated by the EPA. Just like Frontline.

You Butler reps are just pissed that you are in bed with Merial for 2 more years, exclusively. Sorry for you guys! Merial is a sinking ship. Vets are over Merial and there "old news" products that are everywhere. Just today I converted 2 Heartgard accts to my alternative HW preventative, taking about 150k in sales from Butler/Merial. Both of these vets are fed up with Merial. They are going to be cutting their HW prev costs in half and be making roughly 25% more profit. No question here that this will continue to happen. Bye Bye Merial....... Go sell in Target, oh thats right, youre already there.

My understanding as a new Butler rep. is that Virbac Iverhart Max is not selling that well nationally and it also like shit? I have been meaning to call you anyways, lets go sell Alergroom into Target.
Signed.
Butler Sales Rep.

This is why I hate the French. The only good they are for is paying bills, or if you work for Virbac your Salary.
