As a long time GSK & current ViiV employee (hard facts):
1. HIV is no more important nor deserving attention than (cancer, rare diseases, heart disease, are equal).
2. Gilead understands the best path to advocacy is to generate profit and use excess profits to assist—the capitalist approach.
3. ViiV believes that advocacy is a virtue and has to force a belief/approach upon customers that is 100% false, and then pile on with 2DRs—when the IDs have far more than HIV to worry about.
In conclusion, everyone in RTP knows (I’ve been in field and RTP multiple times):
1. ViiV focused on “advocacy”
2. Gilead focused on “specialty sales” and business.
It is what it is. That is reality. We all screwed up on this by calling on advocacy centers and doing education/in services/activities—that did zero to drive $$$
Gilead understood that HIV is not any different from any other disease.
