Professional Immaturity

I took a relative to 2 doctors one day and while sitting in the waiting room with her observed two pharma reps from different companies doing their business. Thet were courteous to one another, letting each go back to see the doctor.

When both were done 'detailing', they came out into the waiting room in full earshot & view of the patients waiting there - and started talking loudly about managed care, doctor access, which doc went to what speaker program, and what it takes to get access into certain groups. Then they discussed their respective drugs for a while.

When did the days of etiquette and professional maturity go out the door? The conversation should have been had outside of the office. No wonder pharma is perceived poorly.

Very unprofessional - They should have left the office and took up the conversation outside. Reps like that are part of the reason many offices are limiting access. Heck, the last thing I want to talk with another rep about is the industry - Especially if she is attractive - then I may ask for her card.

;)

You are lucky that you did not witness them fighting to get in back, as I have had many reps cut me off and barge right in in front of me. There is no ettiquette left of any kind, even in real life, poeple are fighting to get to the front.

They were probably trying to show how intelligent they were in front of the patients. As if it matters.

I'm sure the patients were disgusted. Working in HQ, I have heard the stupidest, most ridiculous comments and shenanigans by reps and DMs. It amazes me the the lack of professionalism. This channels to lack of integrity, poor work ethic and lack of common sense.

The bitching that goes on in pharma is a joke as well. Good salaries, company cars, flex hours, bonus and still the silver spoon mentality goes on by some people.
