Has anyone had the AZ contract interview yet? What product did they want you to "sell"? Do they always do this for PSS interviews? I remember having to do this for Novartis long time ago- I had to sell a pen... kinda awkward. How long does the interview last? and is there more than one interview? Any details would be helpful. I have mine on Friday.

I am ex AZ turned Cephalon turned contract.... way things are, I guess. AZ used to be a huge stickler on the STAR format questions. I sat in on many different interviews- manager would ask a situational question, and if the candidate didn't mention a part of the STAR, they'd re-ask the question. They wrote the candidates' answers in boxes and tallied points based upon how well they answered each in the format. I know these managers are PSS managers, but jeez i hope they don't stick with the AZ way.... talk about a lame interview format. There is no real conversation between manager and rep... just judged on how well you spit out STAR answers.

Had my interview this morning. The manager that interviewed me definitely wanted STAR answers. Also, he told me that everyone in AZ has to do the SIM at training. Sounded freakishly stressful!

SIM is short for simulations. It is very intense. You have to do everything by the book. If you dont pass they will send you home. Often you will make 3 or 4 calls on the last day. Everything is set up like Doc offices etc. Like a T.V. production set. Sometimes they video and then review in playback.

I have done it before. Really not that bad. You have a lot of time in between role plays. last day you might do 4 but will have 30 to 45 mins to prepare for your next one. I am guessing everyone has done pharma calls before that gets hired. Same old BS training that you will never use in the field.

for me, I got 10 min. to prep a call on Pulmacort. then into the role play room!
