Who is on the short list?

Talking about a new CEO is ridiculous at this point. The company has the same middle management as four years ago. Since middle management controls the culture of this company changing the top guy is irrelevant.

Why don't you bring in some top mid-managers. Change the mid-managers that are not motivating their employees or are not performing and finally change the culture of this company.

After three CEOs it is not the CEO that is screwing up the company. It is obviously the management of the company but the reality is that mid-management controls more of the decisions, hiring decisions, corporate culture than most people realize.
 


















At least one insider is jockeying for the role. He's had his eye on it since he joined as a Warburg installed executive.

Who? Anyone who is already inside this company is part of the problem not part of the solution. Hard to see how anyone could A$# kiss their way to the top of this organization.

Insiders make it to the top of companies that are doing well not companies that are not doing well. However, hiring women insiders has been in vogue lately.

Pharm products are a joke. Ask any eye doc anywhere, what their current view point of any B&L product is and they will laugh.

They're eye drops. There are better generic equivalents available in all classes for half of the price. That includes zirgan too, but the volume is so low it's not even worth discussing.

Vision care is getting its ass kicked. Crystalens is dying the death of a thousand cuts. The whole company is.

products are a joke, management is a disaster, Rep turnover has crushed the sales force, and the result is that the company is in real trouble. Can't survive in this economy. Someone will take it, in whole or in parts. Bet on it.

Is anyone being held accountable for the lack of foresight as to what would sell in the marketplace. Leadership in R&D should be to get something through the FDA that can sell. If the products are not selling then either the R&D leadership is not very smart or they had something on their agenda (like building up their Resumes for their next jobs) than company profits.

The new products were either "me too" or technically flawed. The design goal for any new product needs to be set by the CEO and R&D needs to be held to achieving the design goals. In the case of R&D the design goals were watered down to get easy products through the FDA so that management could claim success, get their bonuses and be able to put an FDA approval on their resumes. This whole thing is then passed onto the sales force that is then left "holding the bag" with a new product that can not sell.

R&D needs to step up their game and produce products that meet the design goals that marketing asks for. In order to get better products bringing in top R&D talent that can actually meet design goals is essential.

steriods are 10 years old. I'm just not seeing the hype. All products are losing to generics or entrenched branded. Zirgan isn't being measured against all products in all classes that docs prescribe that med for. Congratulations, you have a 50% share of the narrowest market basket ever.
