Pre/Post maternity leave

Hoping to get pregnant later this summer but not clear of the maternity policy at Medi. I've heard you can get up to 4 weeks pre-delivery if your OB signs off and then 6-8 weeks paid post-delivery paid at 100%. But then how much time off can we take and paid at what percentage?
At my previous company we were allowed up to 18 weeks off (100% for the first 6 weeks, 55% for the next 6 weeks, and then unpaid FLMA for final 6 weeks) before using vacation time-off post-delivery. Hoping the same or more applies!

what was the previous company? That's a serioulsy generous policy. why did you leave that place if you were planning to have kids at a company whose policy you don't know?

just stay unemployed. The benefits are better and you can get paid for each new dependent democrat voter you crank out.

but why did you not ask about ths during the intvu process? Hidden agenda perhaps? Not cool.

No time off before baby. 6 weeks vaginal 8 weeks c-section after delivery. Then use your vacation or floating holiday after the 6 or 8 weeks. After that is used you can take FMLA unpaid for maximum 6 months. Good luck!

It is not leave. It is disability. So, unless you are disabled before you deliver you get to work until you have the baby. I have seen some work another surgery in after their pregnancy disability runs out to get more time off. Your doctor releases you to return to work just like any other disabled condition. Also check to see if they pro-rate your bonus while you are on disability. You don't want to be out of the bouns pool at MedImmune during the winter. Better to time it for an April 1st delivery.

Republicans don't take maternity leave? Or it's just that they actually deserve it? Where I live it's the conservative Christian republicans pumping out five babies. Dem's would not do that to the planet.

You got it. The right pumps out children like mice, using up goods and services. They are a drain on the fabric of this country--depending on the schools to raise their children, running around in huge SUVs necessary to transport their spawn to BS soccer games, Costco, etc. They consume, consume, consume, trash the environment, don't recycle, etc. They then soak up financial aid because they have so many dependents. All this while cutting benefits to people in need. Tax cuts don't build HOV lanes. Tax cuts aren't going to lower gas prices or develop bioethanol. However, we've seen the abject failure to lead and the willingness to hold the county hostage so that billionaires and corporate jet owners can get a tax break. Its too bad Boehner didn't have to go on TV and tell active duty soldiers or retirees or kids in college or the FAA why their pay/medicare/student loans/planes weren't as important as the tax breakes for the ultra wealthy.

States differ on laws, you might be able to get up to 30 days prior to due date
6-8 weeks STD
4 weeks MedImmune Child Care Leave (new program, also allows for a new father to take leave with pay or mother/father with new adoption)
And depending on what state you live in you may qualify for additional leave
Total paid leave is probably 12-18 weeks, plus vacation
Good luck, take your maximum leave because you've earned it and your baby needs you!

Ya good luck being a workin mom

Whats your problem with being a working mom? Many women do it and are very successful. I have 4 children who are happy, healthy and smart. My husband earns more than enough to support our family; I'm working to help create extra savings and maintain my independence. I have never take more than 6 months off (maternity leave compounded with an illness) and have been well received when coming back to work.
If you have emotional support anything is possible!
Merry Christmas
