Is this investment going to pay off? If Janssen gave it up, it has to be a bad franchise!! Thoughts? New Sales force or will they take over existing sales force!!???

They are hiring for Ponvory, J&J’s failed MS drug.

Ask about car plan, IC plans (they aren’t normally released by the CFO until the end of the quarter, and general strategy. You will get a good sense why there is such high turnover.

Hiring external for Ponvory. 3 managers and 20 reps to start. Looking for MS experience. Jobs posted before Xmas. Hiring process is crawling along at a snails pace because one person is trying to screen all applicants by himself.

No company car, 3% match on 401k, half the sales force doesn’t make IC and nobody hits goal on IC payouts.

For anyone thinking about accepting an offer from Vanda, make sure you ask them how many reps make target IC. The answer is none. You can’t factor in IC to your total compensation because you won’t make any bonus here. Quarterly payouts of $0 are common.

Ponvory is actually the best of the S1PRAs. J&J basically didn't put any resources behind it (it was part of the Actelion acquisition. J&J purchased Actelion for it's PAH molecule and Ponvory had received FDA approval so J&J decided to use Syneos to sell it for them). I launched Ponvory & despite Janssen's lack of interest was able to do quite well selling it. Neurologists who like S1Ps (esp Gilenya which was a blockbuster for Novartis) are interested in Ponvory. If Vanda markets it correctly (which Janssen didn't) they can definitely make many times it's $100mil investment. There are a few of us out here who were quite successful selling Ponvory. Vanda would be well served to seek us out.

Vanda was drinking Kool-Aide when they bought Ponvory from JnJ. Take it from a rep that sold it-it is a dog drug and there are better drugs in the clase for MS. JnJ were doing th happy dance when Vanda bought it.
