right. too many variables, too situational. mostly depends on how much you suck and how long before you get another chance to see this guy most likely because he feels sorry for you. And, how valuable he might be if you actually sell him something.

If youre not at least 98% to plan, it's not unreasonable to wait there for 3-4 hours! You're also probably the dipshit who buys a girl who is way out of your league at a bar a drink, then when she tells u she has to go to the bathroom but will "be right back", youre standing there w/ your thumb up your ass all night until last call waiting for her to actually come.......

Just do your job! I don't care how long you should stay, if it makes business sense and it will help you move the business forward, stay. If it doesn't, don't stay.

Umm... The better question you should have asked is " shouldn't I just ask his surgery scheduler how long his case in OR will run or did he have an add-on case? THAT will give you your answer...
