BRIAN SMITH JOINS HOSPIRA: Brian Smith has been hired as the director of state government affairs with Hospira, the company announced. In his new position, he’ll be responsible for Hospira’s issues on the state level including biosimilars, medical devices and other related businesses. Smith has more than two decades of experience in public affairs campaigns, government affairs and grassroots strategy. Prior to joining the company, he served as senior manager of government affairs with Philip Morris International. He’s also served as deputy vice president of public affairs and alliance development at the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America.
