This year's chosen term was:

"political correctness".

The winning student wrote:

"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end."

PC is an idea that has outlived it's usefulness and, in most cases, has gone way too far.

Agree w/ BN & HTCO. During my lifetime, I have been told that Colored, Negro, black and now African-American were 'polite' and or 'correct way to refer to this minority. I've even known AAs to use the 'N' word in closed company when I've been around. So why don't people refer to me as German American? Or Irish American? And if you are mixed (like me or like many 'African Americans) why not say 'mixed race? This is the 'illogical' part.

You all make good points. But I will not refer to a Native American as a "red skin." And so on.
