I will agree that people who are driven can always be somewhat successful (because they get the h*ll out of Dodge before the city burns to the ground)... But if you think luck doesn't play a big part in pharmaceutical sales, well you are just a f*^#ing idiot! I've been around long enough and won just about every award there is to win in sales and I can tell you formulary coverage has EVERYTHING to do with your success. If patients can't afford your product it doesn't matter how great it is, they are not going to fill the prescription, period!.. Yes, yes, there are always going to be some exceptions, but look at which states (in any job you have held in pharma) historically that outperformed others. Coverage, coverage, coverage!.. With that said, you still have to be a good sales person and go out there and promote and sell properly and passionately, but being a great salesperson is just one piece of a successful products puzzle,
