Are any of you motivated or feel the company is going in the right direction?

No one I talk to is happy working here and everyone is just going through the motions. Morale very low and even the managers seem to have given up. Is it just my district and region?

Takeda has 4 product launches in the next 12 months, which is better than most Big Pharma companies these days. Plus no layoffs anytime soon. If people are still unhappy and unmotivated, then move on because this industry is no longer for you.

What drugs are you talking about? Me toos and other dead in the water junk? Can you really call them a launch when they won't take off? Next round of layoffs will come just in time for the holiday season.

semi valid point you have. problem is product launches aren't what they used to be. look at edarbi. how many reps were excited to get this product? how many made decent bonus on this? how many managers had this removed from their reps bag mixes recently?
look at the poll on how many people are excited get the 4th dpp4i to the market. different times in a different market.
how do you get your sales force excited to launch a new drug? put some money behind it. money that will end up in the reps pockets starting at launch time. hard to stay motivated month after month pouring your heart and soul into a launch to realize you will be making $300 in bonus

Before 2010,when Takeda still had a soul and a stand-out culture, motivation was never an issue. You really felt a part of something unique, and were motivated to make it grow!Fast forward to 2013,all of that is gone, and the motivation now is too get the hell out of here as fast as we can.For me,hopefully very soon.Takeda was great when it was good, but a terrible,non-motivating place to be now.Good luck to everyone.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Product launches. Products that shouldn't even be launching is more like it. How motivating was the Edarbi launch? How many territories that WERE promoting Edarbi are no longer promoting Edarbi? How many more will be stopping the promotion of Edarbi in the coming month? Those "launches" just drain money from Takeda and must be giving the japanese fits. alo launch is doomed for failure but we will launch it as the last to market and try to prop it up with the smoke and mirrors of the combo products. It will be marketable but will probably never make as much as it cost to bring it to market in the USA.

The 4 product launches in the next 12 months is what will seal our fate. We're done and over. Should have walked away from those products long ago instead of spending good money after bad.

What's the 4th? The novel antidepressant? Are 1-3 all the alo combo's?

I can deal with whatever products, or lack of products they throw my way. Let's face it people, the days of having blockbusters are few and far between.
What annoys me is what seems to be a more and more micromanaging culture coming from the top. Footprint planning, planning for footprint planning, tracking report for this, target planners for these, Smart plans for those, PBR, ELSE, WIG.
We spend more time pushing around paper than selling these days. Pre call plan, post call plan, track your calls, details and doctors, send these reports to manager, come up with a new report to explain what you are going to do.
Planning and executing is part of any successful selling model, I get it. Not everybody needs their hand held through this process. I spend half my time filling out reports explaining my actions that could be better spent selling.

Nice to see I'm not the only one. Mgmt will continue this practice as they struggle to provide excuses for the reps who can't sell, meanwhile those who can are bogged down and frustrated. Not a winning model.

I agree with you that the days of having blockbuster products are gone. Especially here at Takeda. The problem is, we are still sized like a company that has blockbuster products. There is no way we can continue to keep so many reps and support staff. I'm guessing at least another 25% reduction in head count once Japan sees the Alo launch numbers promised will be impossible to hit. It'll be like Edarbi launch. We'll all come in at around 50% to goal and Japan will be like WTF!?. Then the chopping will begin again. Enjoy your summer. Late Fall and Early Winder is gonna be a bitch!

When are you going to learn your lesson? 4 product launches huh? One of them has been delayed for 3 years and is 4th to the class. How exciting do you think that launch is going to be? What about the other three?

What a tangled web we weave folks, what a tangled web we weave.

Don't think for a second that moving to another big pharma company is going to make you feel better about your day-to-day activities of being a pharmaceutical salesperson. Make do with the products you have, ignore the fact that it's just a bit better than your competitor, or you were "convinced" that it is. You've got a job to sell a product, go out and do your best. We've got decent base salaries, can make decent bonus from time to time, drive around in very nice cars that cost us next to nothing, and have absolutely insanely off the chart flexible schedules. So much about his job is attitude. Trust me, I've gotten down in the dumps many times about this job. Focus on the positive if you can, if not then find a new position which may give you a brief high and you'll be sure to find yourself at square one eventually.

This is capitalism my friends, be happy and hold on tight because we'll certainly miss it when it's gone.

GET OUT NOW!! I was former TAP legacy and was one of the FORTUNATE ones to be let go in 2010. Best thing that ever happened to me. Got my severance and left pharma for good. Everyone I talk to still in pharma is miserable. They are micro-managed, GPS'ed up the ass, and hate their jobs. Pharma used to be a great industry to work in. We were hired to do a job, trusted to do that job, and left alone. Management valued our opinions and treated us like the valuable employees that we were. Not the case anymore, certainly not with Takeda. They want their reps to be seen, not heard. They tell you what to do, how to do it, and they don't care what you think. If that's the type of "corporate culture" you enjoy then Takeda is the place for you! Otherwise, look for another job or better yet, look for a new career outside pharma. You won't believe what a better quality of life you will have.

Love to read all the trash talking - it's a guilty pleasure - kind of like watching Desperate Housewives. Now there's an idea! Desperate Sales Reps of Takeda! I have my own consulting business and work when I want. No longer have to worry about someone monitoring my every move and marketing crappy drugs that no one will prescribe because they suck. Face it, the glory days of Pharma are long gone. I was lucky to get in when it was a great job and we were respected by both our company and by the physicians we called on. Those days are long gone. If you still enjoy the job then good for you but most reps I still have contact with hate it. Just sayin.........

Well goody for you! Some of us are still here, collecting a paycheck from Takeda and collecting a paycheck from " a prominent medical device company" , driving Takeds car and pocketing the $ for car allowance, agreed pharma blows but "home boy" I'm livin' a dream, made over 225k last year, not to mention the backshesh fro two expenses reports!
