Pharma's Most Perilous Pipelines

This financial analyst has made an interesting assessment of our pipeline. The article says that Lilly's "product portfolio looks like a graveyard". What return have we gotten on the $11 billion that John has spent on acquisitions to improve our pipeline? Could there not be a better example of business incompetence? There's a distinct difference between "being well educated" and "being smart". And what does this say about the Board of Directors who have been overseeing John's performance? How can a handful of people bring down a $20 billion dollar enterprise in just a few short years? Are there no Lilly leaders with the guts to tell the emperor that he has no clothes? We're all like frogs sitting in the pot of water on the stove about to be boiled.

You're preaching to the choir. This message board is only for the minions to vent. If you want real change you need to take these issues to the news media or a stockholder meeting. The damage is already done, so there's not much else that can be done to change Lilly's direction unless the company is sold. Use your time wisely and build a career someone else. Put in just enough effort here to keep that paycheck coming and no more. Your work here will not benefit society or your fellow man in any way. Everything we do here is for John's ego and retirement. Only a fool would think differently.

I beg to differ. Get hired by Lilly. Take every training course you can find. In the meantime find a better job. It's true that there is no future. This company thinks that it can pursue growth through acquisition. That kind of a game is way out of our league.

If you guys wish to stay in pharmaceuticals I would highly recommend you take a look at HIV or Oncology and a very small company. Even these divisions at major companies like GSK, AZ etc are becoming very much dangerous places to be come layoffs. Which you all know, we will have more of in this industry. A better spot to be in would be biotech or medical devices but be prepared to work long hours and have a number on your back. But you will be rewarded in the end as this industry, especially for mid level manager and sales reps is truly going nowhere. Best of luck!
