Just curious...coming from Pharma....looking to go elsewhere...im still employed...but am seing this industry crashing..! so.. is Lab sales a step forward or back from PHARMA?

not talking lab corp...or quest..lmao

anyone heard of UNIPATH? whats their story? the good the bad the ugly? Figured the best way to get feedback about labs sales is from current lab employees.

thanks for your feedback!

The answer is it depends. A step forward towards what? Lab sales leads you into the world of lab services, path services, and possibly (less likely) into other jobs selling equipment, devices, or software into a lab. Pharma takes you to specialty pharma and biotech and both pharma or lab could lead to a medical device job if thats what you want. I have also found that pharma companies do more hiring from within their company than labs do, but that might not be true across both industries. Lab is a tougher job and you take more Bulls**t from people.

There is more $$$ in lab in my experience. That being said it is a little riskier with really high good years and lower bad years. Lab is a more direct selling environment with more responsibility and accountability for the numbers. It really depends what your goals are and where you are trying to get.

It also depends on what you are selling. If you are selling s service then it may be harder to move anywhee else or up the chain. As mentioned if you are selling the equipment or some kind of product and software data prgram for peer grouping etc then that is a different story. In any case if your still in pharma you need to get out, now, and expand your resume a bit. Otherwise wait until 2014 because that is when the destruction of pharma will end and those companies still standing will be pushing new drugs out of the pipeline. Go Broncos.
