Pharma is only dead if you are a rep: The managers are doing just fine thank you!

It is sad that all the corporate crap rains down on reps...the drug rep job is getting as thin
and emaciated as Angeline Jolie's arms...

But it is a different story for the Merck managers...They continue to enjoy what must be some of the greatest jobs in America...A typical CTL makes probably close to 175K with salary and bonus for essentially working part time. The only job requirement is a willingness to sell your soul and damage people's lives and livelyhoods intentionally.

The managers must sit back laughing at their meetings...They have these jobs that are almost guaranteed for life, and the reps are scrambling to survive, with little or no chance of getting hired in any other industry. (The managers can transition to other industries fairly easily--but they rarely have to.

Very few managers will suffer in the upcoming carnage...Some yes, but very very few...They will continue to be able to afford big houses, luxury cars, midwest cornfed steaks, fine wines, and fat bank account...

Can I ask how a "lab support coordinator" would possible be affected by the upcoming changes? I.e., is that a managerial position, or more of a paean-type job?

Are you the girl who is bitter about her fiancée stepping out with a chick who works in West Point as a lab coordinator again? Get over that mess karma will take care of them - and you if you keep wishing bad on those losers.

To answer your question a lab coordinator haw nothing to do with the sales force - just like a few months ago. Those areas rarely look or post here so you're not likely to get much info on the group from this board.

No - seriously- that is totally me! But she did write some nasty stuff back to me on here, so apparently she does monitor, or someone told her. Karma is currently treating me very well, though. Just waiting for it to swing back around and hit her in the @$$!

All the reps will NEVER be gone...there will always be just enough low paid reps to keep the manager's jobs safe. Even if they have to manage an Inventiv contract sales force.

People (reps) at Merck are surprisingly naive. They get screwed left and right, but fail to put two and two together that they are working for one of the most corrupt companies, in the most corrupt industry in America.

Merck will continue there churn and burn and turn...I guarantee you that today's hot shot S3's are tommorows scapegoats (High salaried scapegoats) getting pushed out tomorrow...

Pharma sales is a ponzi scheme folks...For lack of a better word, the managers are truly incentivized to keep pushing the experienced people out, and hiring the newbies who won't question their dubious "authority."

2. Never go out let alone marry the garbage from Merck. It's a cheating capital of the pharmaceutical world. It is rampant in all departments.
3. In a few years you will understand how lucky you are. What would happen if you married this person? Better yet what would happen of you had kids?

At the end of the day you are in a much better place. Don't wish bad on them. Feel bad for them. Leave it alone and move on.
