SA didn't acquire BMS all of those years because their former CEO was dead set against it and chose to invest capital in their own R&D. He is now gone but Europe is in an economic mess and the French government doesn't have the euros to back such a move. Timing is everything...

In 1984 there was a rumor BMS could be bought. Never happened. These big mergers do not bring the synergies management... It's costly and all you get are layoffs, but no added value

Depends on the price they have to pay to get apixaban. They will have to pay out the wazoo to get BMS, and that will essentially amount to "sharing" it.

Pfizer was one of the best companies on the planet, but I dont even recognize it anymore and ask any rep you know that works there and they will tell you the same thing. A merger with Pfizer is Pfizer buys you and the company spirals downward fast. Just ask Wyeth and King reps how fun it was to be under big Blue.
