Pfizer realignment

Well, guess some of us won’t make it to 1yr anniversary. I can understand their actions on reducing headcount, but to do it during rising Covid numbers? Really! Can someone tell the powers that be, the abrupt msging on the CC today needs some finesse since you had time to review before presenting to team. I estimate 300 ppl were let go today.

Guess it really doesn’t matter, but was the real reason territories were eliminated. Reasons given were not valid. So how long before the contract is cancelled/done, end of year?

Well, the writing was on the wall. Declining Covid cases, less morbid disease (less severe, fewer hospitalizations} and the statements at the Pfizer 2nd quarter earnings call Pfizer (PFE) Q2 2023 Earnings Call Transcript | The Motley Fool from no one less than AB that "given the uncertainty, we are also preparing to have the ability to adjust our 2024 total cost base to align with various future COVID-19 disease with the revenue scenario. In fact, we have already identified specific areas where we can make adjustments, primarily within our COVID-19 cost base, if demand comes in lower than expected".

Pfizer has cut and run on CSO before but not to this extent. Maybe some sleazy law firm would like the names of those affected (it's on the e-mail that was sent to many for the 12:15 call Friday. There may be grounds because CF pretty much stated that the retention decision were made by Pfizer based on dirt (alleged territory necessities) and not people (skills, performance, tenure).

Let the games begin!

Well, the writing was on the wall. Back in August at the Pfizer Q-2 earnings call Q2-2023-Earnings-Conference-Call-Prepared-Remarks-FINAL.pdf (q4cdn.com) A.B. stated "Given this uncertainty, we are preparing to have the ability to adjust our 2024 total cost base to align with various future COVID-19 revenue scenarios. In fact, we have already identified specific areas where we can make adjustments – primarily within our COVID-19 cost base – if demand comes in lower than expected"
This is not the first time Pfizer has cut and run on a CSO albeit not to this extent.

It is interesting that C.F. stated the decision for the cuts in the Inizio Covid field sales force was made by Pfizer based of "Dirt" factors (territorial coverage needs) and not on People factors (Experience, abilities, seniority). Maybe some sleazy law firm will take an interest in this - possible a class action lawsuit. Someone might even provide a list of those affected by the realignment, (you can get the 260 names and e-mails from the Representative 1 Update e-mail that many received on Friday September 9th) to the lawyers. Certainly, they would be interested in exploring the possibilities for settlements.

Good luck to all affected by this cutback.

We could see this coming. Quote Ab from the August 1 Q 3 earnings conference

Q2 2023 Pfizer Inc Earnings Call on August 01, 2023 / 2:00PM (q4cdn.com)

"But given the uncertainty, we are also preparing to have the ability to adjust our 2024 total cost base to align with various future COVID-19 disease -- revenue scenarios. In fact, we've already identified specific areas where we can make adjustments, primarily within our COVID-19 cost base, if demand comes in lower than expected."

This contract has been so mismanaged since day one but are we still having fun?? The best line of all times albeit "My job is to make sure you have jobs."

Trying to motivate the leftovers to produce will be the most fun we've had. Can't wait

real reason=raise in salaries with back pay. This would cost them millions for 600+ people. So, now they only have to raise salaries for 300+ and can maintain a profitable contract.

Contract reps aren’t ‘employee’ in the true since of the word. Ashfield did right by making Oct 2nd last day, that gives us medical benefits til end of Oct. nice if you need the benefits.

I’m trying to plan ahead—no one knows how long the rest of us will survive—was there any severance?
It was really nasty to have your heads chopped off, I’m so sorry for the way our contract was treated. I know some really great people who are gone.

No real severance. Work thru Sept 29, Pay thru Oct 2, Benefits thru Oct 31

You are a headcount at Assfield Healthscare. They can downsize without any reason, they can discriminate and explain it as a change in strategy. They don’t need to have any rhyme or reason as to what groups get laid off and which ones stay. I have seen them get rid of people then backdate the policy for the dismissal.

They were big liars..only those on the lowest rung for salary will get a raise! Now those of us left will have 2 new products and be paid not a cent more, no incentives whatsoever
