Pfizer, BioNTech to develop shingles shot, after COVID-19 vaccine success

Interesting gamble. By the time it gets approved, a majority of the population will have already been vaccinated with Shgx. Also there’s a ton of patients that are skeptical of mrna technology.

The newer technology is cleaner and just or more effective at preventing shingles. 70% of the at risk population still needs to be protected. So GSK. You'll have a strong competitor and GSK reps in vaccines this is another nail in your coffin because you have no innovate vaccines that really matter.

What makes it “cleaner”? How do you know how effective a vaccine’s efficacy will be, before efficacy trials have ever been started?

The same way they did with C19 vaccines: start with the premise that it *is* effective and structure your trials accordingly - like giving everyone in the placebo group the actual medication so that there's no control group.
