Performance Reviews

Heard this from a manager last year so want to make sure everyone knows.

Do yourself a favor and don’t spend any extra time on your performance reviews. Either use AI to construct it or cut and paste last year’s review and change the dates. The managers don’t read them. They just check the box so we need to do the same because our merit increases have already been decided. Also, the decision on whether or not we are being promoted to the next level has already been decided too. There’s nothing we can say in our reviews that will change what we’re getting or change whether or not we’re getting promoted. Been this way for years apparently.

Your sales rank is a “qualifier” for promotion and increase in pay. A good sales year is a good review. Need Several years of good top third ranks or better for promotion.
If you have a bad sales year—there is nothing you can do to avoid a bad review.
Each of us was highed to grow sales—if you can’t do it then I suggest a different job for you.

Not all true. There are people who have been promoted from OSR to Dry eye specialty, into training, and even management who have not always been ranked very highly. If your manager likes you or you know someone on the inside that can help it will work. Basis CV doesn’t always hire the “Best” candidate for the job.
The merit reviews are already decided. The only one who may get changed is if your rank either increases a drastic amount or decreases in the last month. At that point managers go back and review to look at the people who were on the line of getting a better salary increase…. Again that’s if your manager is going to watch out for your best interest.

True to some degree. There are plenty of people who have moved between different positions both out in field and home office that have not always had good numbers. Timing is important and also having people advocate for you also helps. The criteria is a framework that is not always followed.

Not true, I know people who got pushed down a bucket for being on maternity leave. It's a popularity contest. What you write doesn't 100% doesn't matter. The difference between a 3% raise and and 1.5% raise doesn't motivate me at all. Thank god we got that legacy raise of 10%

Managers copy and paste the comments and change the names. It’s a generalized response.
