pension advice

been here about 5 years. The only reason I am staying is the pension. However, I looked last night at my projections on the site and was blown away. I'll only make 2k a month if I stay here till retirement!!

I think a lot of us need to take a closer look at this as I know a lot of the senior guys r staying cause of this
 












Key is to look at your total reward statement. It shows the value of your pension earned the last 12 months based on JNJ contribution for the year. If you are evaluating leaving, that shows how much you should add to your salary and commission compensation for the year to get a good comparison to the other company package.

While pension is a great benefit, it isnt enough by itself to tie someone to JNJ if not happy. if you left at 5 years, you havent really earned enough to worry about.

Not saying one should stay or go, just adding some perspective.

Your soul or a pension?
 






Some balls you have even thinking about being employed here until retirement. With the layoffs going on here you will most likely be smoked by years end let along "till retirement".

Want advice here it is? Stop worrying about a pension like a pussy and join a company that cares more about its employees than it does about the way it is perceived in the public. Admit it you like JNJ because you can say "I work for JNJ" and think people respect you more or something. Keep knocking out those sutures for that sweet pension you will receive in 2034.

I usually do not agree with most posts on CP but this is spot on. Chances of staying at Ethicon till retirement are very low.

Go somewhere that you enjoy and fee a mutual respect between you and company. It is not enough to stick around for a pension or even an immediate supervisor any more. Look around and take what you think is the best offer, you have at least 9 months to look

Let me guess a burned out DM/SD that is just waiting until he/she can retire? It is yes men like you that have never pressed the status quo or pushed back on horrible decisions made by this company. Just put your yes man hat on, agree with Kipper and Tim and wait to collect that "hard earned" pension.... stupid ass.
