I'm interviewing for overlay position right now, first round last week - I believe this is a very, very good company and have heard that if they don't hire you, they may consider you down the road if another opportunity opens.
 




Great place to work, overlay is an awful position. You are essentially an extra person that the customers don't want to see and the REAL reps don't want to deal with you. If you want to work for a great company but have 0 value in what you do take the job. If you are looking to actually have a meaningful career look somewhere else. Overlay is a waste.

That's what I took away from the interview. Problems with meshing as a team and working together.
 




The push back from threatened teammates is the biggest challenge and wild card. Some overlays are loving life, but one jerk out of four teammates can make you miserable. The company is top notch, as are most of the directors. I say it's worth the risk, just realize you may have to grit your teeth and bare it for awhile.

How long will the overlays be "overlays"? I can do it, but I would like to know up front what I'm signing up for.
 












It will be at least 2 years if not longer. New med hasn't even been submitted to FDA yet. So get used to being a useless bitch for 2 years. No one wants these overlays. Awful higher up decision. There I said it.
 












Ask the doctors and they all say the same thing...barely need 2 reps, the overlays are a colossal waste of money! God forbid upper management ask the customers what they want! But get ready folks, Chuck wants to hire yet another 40 reps in Q2 of this coming year.

Please tell me your lying! CHARLES, CHARLES, CHARLES STOP MAKING US PFIZER!! This is insanity! We dont need these overlays nor do we need AN ADDITIONAL 40! My lord upper management is so out of touch with reality.
 








Fact: No new Biogen rep will ever have bg12 in the primary position
Fact: The overlays are as useless as they come
Fact: I think the overlays are so sub par its amazing
Fact: They will be gone in 24 months once Biogen realizes they are useless
 




i mostly agree with u, but considering all the reps novartis has selling gilenya, i don't see why we wouldn't have reps selling bg12 in the primary position. i think that's why chuck wants to hire 40 more

I hope your right however, we know the Tysabri leads will not be selling BG12 due to our contract with Élan.
The overlays in my region are so out of their element I actually pity them until I realize they are going to make the same or more in bonus while doing NOTHING!!!

The fact they make what I do is such an insult. You hit the nail on the head. They were trained like crap, they were hired in haste, with a worthless 3 hour total "round robin" interview phase. I mean, it's just pathetic. Monumental fuck up by leadership. And to thing they want to hire more of these idiots. Mind boggling.
 




So, you must be the Super ABM who is holding Biogen together. The man who constantly adds to the bottom line-----can do his job in excess of his peers, while downgrading them to others. You are a whiny piece of shit with self esteem issues who would rather demean your colleagues in order to showcase your false sense of confidence. Some of these overlays were ABM's who pulled the short straw. So FUCK YOU and your analysis.
 




I agree that the overlay concept is awkward with our accounts and uncomfortable in our daily routine, but I also agree that expansion is going to happen with bg12. You have a choice: support the overlay you have now who will have a year under their belt or take the new hire of next year with 3-6 months at best. I have no idea what my overlay makes, but he works hard and I'm not getting paid any less. I am taking the high road, supporting and being nice to my overlay b/c I'll take him over the unknown big pharma rep.
