Out with the Old, In with the New

Seems the policy is to get rid of hundreds of years of experience then turn around and advertise to hire a newbee willing to work for cheap. I mean, I understand that Philips is hurting and needs to purge anybody with a pension but new kids can't do the job straight out of the gate.

Seems this can't be true but is it?

That seems about right. There is little logical thinking or ethics being used above the RSM level. Look for Philips stock to dramatically plummet in the next 6 months. If you have any sell!

Current mandate: hire 5 , fire 6

I'm not saying it needs to make any sense, and these days nothing does, but an old experienced service guy can fix more faster and for longer using less parts than some new guy who has to call rtac to tie his shoes. How in the world can it do anything but go downhill to shitcan the experience so they can hire somebody with none??? Cheaper is often more expensive.

Welcome to corporate America. This business model is not new or unique to Philips. Many companies in the industry and the corporate world in general are moving in this direction. Younger typically means hungry, aggressive, energetic, and not beaten down by the system. Sure, often times the less experienced can take a lower salary and be motivated to earn more and climb the ladder. Keep in mind someone gave you a shot at one point and you were young and inexperienced as well.

That's a joke right? Everybody I know started in this business with loads of experience then went to detailed schools before going to the field where we trained under a senior FE. People start now with some education and experience but the schools are more of an intro, then they are just given sites to flail on.

Uncle Phil used to be a professional organization, now its a hack! Maybe you are in the extra special super zone.

Maybe you're an old disgruntled moron.

Maybe you're an old disgruntled moron.

You must be mid level management.

You won't know this but there is a physics requirement for IS. Untrained people do things like, and I heard this from a reliable source, call a customer and order 500 mC of radionuclide for a PM (you wouldn't want to even be in a room with that much activity). Failure to grasp the physics of the system an FE is supposedly trying to fix makes the customer start making calls to 3rd party, and I absolutely know that as a fact.

Philips loses business and feeds 3rd party by stupid practices intended to scrimp on money. Point in fact is that you think that makes me a moron while it harshly comments on you instead.

one thing this makes me think.

after 2014 its funny how many guys who were over 50 and hired before 2000 just disappeared. Not retired or layed off or fired or even quit, just vanished and never heard of again.

hey ol' timer-sounds like you should be put out to pasture. If you coworkers didn't retire get fired layed off or quit, you may be halucinating -too much inhalation of the keyboard duster.
You are not capable of participating in the GTM strategy

This thread is funny as shit.

Some poor bastard wanders to a place he totally misunderstands. Sounds like he is stuck in the middle as the new senior guy having to cover for a bunch of newbee field guys and wonders where all the old senior guys went, which is why he now runs around explaining shit to some guy who couldn't afford a clue if he knew where the store was. He is obviously an imaging engineer.

Dumbass asks questions, unknowingly, to an entire crowd of suits who couldn't find a hospital if their throat was cut and couldn't tell you if they were lying on a Philips Modulating Articulator III for a procedure to amputate their basil ganglia.

The answer to his question was -- No, everybody who had a pension was canned so these guys could grab themselves a bonus!

Hilarious!

Im so done with this company. No one at corporate cares about us facing the customers, this includes the ZVPs. I cant get simple reports, quick responses, a straight forward response or realistic numbers. Sales hasn't hit their numbers in years and service sees a greater negative impact. All the accountability falls on me and the FSEs. We cannot save ourselves to profit. 70% margin is asinine. My resume has been updated. Know of any worthwhile company hiring?
