Otsuka may be willing to do something because the relationship with the managed care aspect of the drug is getting testy. Otsuka obviously has its own managed care for Depot, but BMS has the managed care reps for the tablet. In order to bundle and get a better price for Depot in the hospitals, Otsuka needs to have complete control over Abilify on both forms. Just a hunch... but they could offer them a deal (BMS) to get out. BMS has all sorts of issues legally and of course with a not so rosy pipeline. If they get a big check from Otsuka, they could trim or get rid of the entire NSS sales division. Merely an educated guess, but thats why CP is usually for.
