Does anyone know about this company? It seems to be mostly made up of ex-Synthes guys. Do they have good products? Are they gaining market share? How is the leadership and culture? Thinking about a change myself and looking for the next big thing but also want to make a smart move. Any insights would be appreciated.

I'll bite. This is a company with a unique thread design on their "fasteners" (they refuse to call them screws) that supposedly solves the big problem of screws stripping which is almost entirely a theoretical problem, not a clinical one. They've been at it for 5 years or more and seem to be generating little traction. The big companies aren't worried, in fact, seem to be laughing at them and their feckless execution. For what it's worth, I'd stay far away. You may not like your current job but this would be a wrong move.

If you need a job then take a job and negotiate a guarantee for as long as you can. If you already work for DS, don't suggest leaving for an upstart in such a competitive space. As much as you might want to leave you already work for a much better company already on contract in virtually every facility. Plus DS will come after you for violating their non-compete.

What problem are they solving? There's no epidemic of screw thread failure that I'm aware of at this time.

The only problem I ever saw in 20 years in surgery was heavy handed ortho surgeons trying to force a screw out. I always had a broken screw removal set on standby. More surgical incompetence than problems with screw heads. It's not like the AO screws are like what you pickup at Home Depot.

These guys talk a big game, claim to be in over 100 level 1 trauma centers. I don't see it. Never seen one of their trays much less one with the lid open in surgery. Someone should remind them getting on the shelf doesn't mean usage. If my experience is consistent with others across the country, their sales can't be much.

Isn't the founder of this company the same guy who was part of a rogue group that tried to start a knock off trauma implant company to compete with Synthes, their employer at the time? How could such an unscrupulous person expect to inspire a positive work culture? No wonder they struggle. Bad karma never leads to good things.
