Opening in Houston?

Yes Houston has great volume. Abbott will not work with their reps to attain competitive pricing with Boston (who also distributes the same damn stent under a different name). Abbott has two openings if that tells you anything. DES jobs don't pay well these days, unless you work for Boston.

good luck

What is the average DES rep making these days at AVD? Must be atleast over 100k? Saw that there are a couple of coronary jobs available. Thinking about going for one. I know about how Boston Markets the same stent but doesn't that agreement come to end soon?

I heard thnru the grafevine they have had 6 reps in last 10 Years and boston and Medtronic reps are 10-15 year vets.

I guess that explains the problems somewhat....................

I have been approached about this position as well. I have a upcoming interview. I do know that they market the same stent, but it is more expensive with Abbott. How is this being looked at, with measuring reps. Cost is a very important factor especially for the same Stent.

Also, I was told they are looking first at hiring a Sales Associate, then promoting to a territory manager here in Houston or elsewhere. What does a Sales Associate make on average. Finally, does being a associate mean your hired on a probationary basis? If you don't pan out, your quicker to get let go?

Abbott Vascular will always have problems in Houston. They have been a revolving door for their coronary reps. They have unrealistic expectations and have become more pharma based in their operations. They do not believe in relationships the reps have built, they instead think their product is so fantastic that is sells all by it's self. Abbott is looking for marketing associates, not medical device professionals. Good luck trying to compete in a market where your competition has been planted for 15-20 years.

Thanks, sounds like a one and done type job. Live off your guarantee for a year and slug it out with well respected veterans from Medtronic, Boston who know the markets, MD's inside and out etc.

No thanks...........
