I was contacted by a fly by night recruiter about an opening. I have about 6 years pharma. What are typical salary and benefit expectations. The recruiter didnt have it handy and was making a call.

Any ideas.

Just make sure you always take the time to tell the male NSDs how smart and handsome they are (they aren't.) And make sure to wiggle your tush as you walk away. That's their definition of "talent."

JBI is a terrible place to work. It's like being in junior high school. Very immature attitudes, jock mentalities (the "inner circle" guys have nicknames that only the select can call them) and a VP who is trying to be one of them, despite the fact that she is female. A whole big bowl of wrong.

They've been doing everything in their power to get rid of the reps with high bases in order to turn this into a straight pharma company. So yeah, that's about normal now.

When I left my base was 150k and I was hauling in at least 60k a year in bonus. But I was smart enough to see the writing on the wall and took a higher-base job with another company with a non-toxic culture. Don't let them dupe you with the 55 retirement thing. They'll usually find a way to fire you before you reach it, plus who wants the aggravation of working for stupid mean people who you can't learn from?

Only academics have a base that high.

Here is an idea. There are about to be a few more. A lot more. Anyone that is a rep and over 50 is a goner. That will be followed by anyone (et all) over 50. If you are 35 you will be all set up, for the next 15 years. After that look out. Those are true facts. Read the posts here and at JnJ. Discrimination in every direction is rampant. A very bad culture to be sure.

And start ups and real biotech are paying those older reps top dollar for their relationships and selling skills.
