Is 47 years old too old to consider going back into pharma. Ten years with Big pharma, strong numbers, many awards etc. I don't want to get hired just to be laid off in six months. Any thoughts?
per last post: I agree with you....a 47 year old rep can kick ass and the whole kid issue is accurate also. However, my boss told me companies frown on hiring reps over 40 because of medical expenses, possible injuries, and basically physical image. Basically, he's saying pharma belongs to the hot blonde with big tits, nice ass, and pretty smile. How many older "male" reps do you see carrying the bag? I have only seen a few and they tend to be in device sales because that industry tends to work well with a "seasoned" rep...it's a different gig all together I'm 35 and the oldest guy in our sales force. Everybody else is fresh out of college or maybe has one year of sales under their belt. I'll be honest.....my numbers are great but I am concerned about my future because of the age "stigma". I think the bottom line should be ...what kind of relationships have you built to drive the business; not if your a double D and can barely get through a basic two minute detail. My boss hires all "hotties" and he's slept with half of them. I say good for him, but damn! We also had two "hotties" put on PIP plans and they ended up sleeping with their doctors to make their numbers.
sounds like a real professional group there. heaven forbid you hire a grownup.
How can you not be fired for sleeping around? And really I have been doing this 15 years with my double Ds and never slept around-?i am currently #1 in current company, age 41.... Clearly age can kick ass......oh I never slept with docs either
Check this out: Talkin' about sleeping around. My boss is married with three kids. When he works with me for two days, he always ask me to go to a certain office. Well, one of the nurses there is married as well with children. Those two shack up while he's in town with me and go out to dinner and blow about two hundred dollars on the companies tab. Every month he lays the wood to this chick and then goes home to his family. Does that make him a zero or a HERO? Either way, I'm not going to blackmail him because he's a great boss and a good friend.
Don't even apply for this. It's mine. I've accepted a $120k base and 35k bonus.
TOTAL BULLSHIT LIE!!!! I already went through round 1 interview and the base is $55,000 with bonus on average of $20,000. I made $120,000 with my last job; interviewer said $120,000??Well we are not even near that.....$55,000 base and I have six years with big pharma and outstanding numbers. Stop lying, and BTW, why do you think you have this position already nailed when face to face interviews are on the 3rd and 4th?
It's "I've already been through round 1." Your poor grammar is the reason you won't get this job. I know that interviews are tomorrow. I'll be there. I have the job already because I worked for the hiring manager at a previous company. He said my asking price was a stretch, but doable. That's why the job is mine. Don't even bother to show up in your cheap JC Penney suit.
