Called for an opening in the eye care division --glaucoma products.

Anything on the culture? Good career move? Division solid? Manager decent?

Seems dismal on here; many posts. Not sure what is happening at Allergan but this used to be the best of the best, regarding company cluture and pipeline.

Thanks.

Please check out the products and pipeline before making any move to Allergan Eyecare. All glaucoma products have gone generic. There is no way the company can continue to support two reps in each territory with no branded products. Volume is down drastically and the current pharmaceutical culture supports mainly generic/less expensive drugs, especially those drugs that cater to the Medicare/Medicaid population like glaucoma medications do. There is nothing in the pipeline.

Thank you. Too bad they never stated the gereric issues at hand. No pipeline--no lifeline.

Allergan was a great company, I know since I have been here for 8 years, but now in Eye Care (last 5 years), it is run by Pfizer and Novartis rejects, so you will be very miserable here (like most of us), because you are extremely micromanaged plus constantly told that you are disposable at any time regardless of your sales numbers.

The Eye Care RD in the South terminated the seasoned reps that had high base salaries and replaced them with cheap labor.

In Eye Care on the West Coast, you will have to ride with your boss and area trainer every 3 weeks. You need to have your first signature call at 8:30am and your last signature call at 4:30pm. Your clients will be called on the phone and asked to verify that you were there, which pisses them off, and tarnishes your working relationships.

You will have up to 5 counterparts calling on the same doctors. Limigan .03, Alphagan P and Restasis will all have generic competition by next year in 2014, so that leaves 5 reps calling on the same doctors selling two drugs Combigan and Lastacaft which will mean layoffs starting in 2014.

I hope this honest response will help you make a wise decision...RUN!!!

Thank you. Yes, this does help, very much. How sad. I know three reps (different divisions) who loved working at Allergan. They were happy. Not sure anymore.

This looks like a mirror of my current company. The job with Allergan is in North Carolina. DM seemed nice. But with RBD's like that; ridding company of those with tenure or high base salaries--no go.

Thank you again.
