There have been a lot of open jobs because many other companies have sniped away reps with high paying salaries to launch their products.
Don't be fooled, oncology experience is hard to get but raise to get at your current employer, whoever that employer is. But, once you get it , you're much better off.
Why wouldn't you go for one of those jobs? They're great and are a gateway to opportunities outside of Lilly.
At least you have plenty of time for your job search while making your two calls per day.Don't fool yourself. I am an oncology rep and it is still pharma. I have been trying to move on and have been looking for over 6 months (not in pharma) and am running into the same exact issues that other pharma reps are running into trying to get out. It's still pharma just different drugs. Don't believe the hype of it being different and better. We do make less calls but that's about it.

Lilly Oncology isn't doing well. Some of the pipeline drugs didn't make it to market. One Lilly oncology dug was stopped in Phase trials. Reps don't leave great positions unless there is a reason. Even if a competitor is willing to pay much more, that fans Lilly isn't paying enough. Other reps in Lilly can joke about it as much as they want, but Lilly Diabetes is the safest division in Lilly in terms of job security. Lilly is throwing all their eggs in that diabetes nest. Im not saying they will be successful, but i don't think you will see layoffs like the BioMeds division saw last summer.
Lilly Oncology is not the same as it used to be. Not many good reps left there and more leaving. It's plain sad. There is no job security there and how reps are left working in MN and WI where others were all put into IHS jobs is just plain unfair. Most of them dont do much either. Doubt they are even making 2 calls per day.
Worst place I have ever worked. Oncology unit is a joke.
Why is our entire oncology division leaving when we supposedly have a great pipeline??
