Bingo! Let’s say you’re an American who believes that America has lost its way. That government has gotten too big, too powerful. That the Republican Party is the best vehicle for defending capitalism, limited government, traditional values, gun rights, and so on.

Is Donald Trump really the best the American right can come up with to fight that fight? I’m asking.Trump was elected in 2016 with full GOP control of the House and Senate. Ever since then, it’s been a string of defeats for the GOP:
In 2018, the GOP lost the House.
In 2020, the GOP lost the White House and the Senate.
In 2022, the “red wave” expected to be an epic middle finger to the Biden presidency amounted to a trickle — with Trump-backed candidates across the country, from Arizona to Pennsylvania, totally flopping.
