Oklahoma City SME Position

OK... can anyone give me the scoop on this position? I've read the countless negative posts about the company, however I've been laid off and need a job. The recruiter said $50-60k base and $110k at plan (I know that rarely happens). The job market in this area sucks right now, but I would also hate to take a position I would be completely miserable in (if I were to get an offer from LabCorp). I'm hoping the job market improves after the first of the year, but I can't know that for sure, so I would hate to pass on an opportunity if it may be one of the few I get. I've been in outside sales for 7 years and medical sales for 3 years. I would appreciate any honest feedback regarding this position. Thank you in advance.

Hey, we're competing for the same job! http://www.cafepharma.com/boards/images/icons/paranoid.gif lol Good luck to us both. My recruiter said 60 base and 100 if you make you numbers. But he was quick to say they stack the deck against us. I'm using MH at T--------.com. I hope that's not too much identifying.

Both recruiters are high. Please name these bimbos. Base is 55-60K, but you will only make 20-30K in variable comp. Ask the recruiter what the W2 for the last SME in this role was. OKC is NOT considered a major clinical lab market. The SME was probably bringing in 3-4K per R78. The commission off of 200-300K annually is less than 20K. Who are these recruiters? Do they know the lab industry in OKC?

if you can't bring in the required amount of $ each month you will be put on a PIP then let go since you will not be able to get off PIP
the hospitals are very strong and dominate the OK mkt, a lot of drs ofices are bringing in certain test so you will not be able to go after that business.
If you need the job to pay bill take it then start to look asap, reps at this company are a revolving door.
the plan is to hire a rep work them like a dog and burn them out then they will quit.
forgot to mention you will always be confused about your commissions, they never seem to get it down right. there is always some excuse like we lost some hospital business so that counts against you or we will recaculate the numbers again if we need to but that never happens.
it seems labcorp has too many labs and test to run and not enough people to figure out what rep gets credit for what test and what lab it was sent to.

this is like the 3rd time this has been open in the past 2 yrs. that would be my first question.

I'm unemployed so I'm not asking questions. Even if it's the worst job in the world, I can hang in there long enough to reset my unemployment clock. And, it will let me network with people in the business that I can't get to now. I don't see any down side here.

No downside? Maybe its time you ask some questions.

The territory has been open 3 times in 2 years? LabCorp wastes no time with putting reps on a PIP do they? How do they expect any type of relationship to be built with the customers if there's a new rep every 6 years??

Did you even read what I wrote, moron? If it gets me off unemployment, gets me a paycheck and some medical/dental, I'd kill you and climb over your dying body to get it. And unlike a lot of the ex-labcor employees I've met, I can sell.

I sure did Cupcake. I guess nuance is not really your thing. Let me translate for you (and don’t move your lips when you read this): Working for LabCorp (note spelling) is much worse than being unemployed w/o medical and dental.

Let me know if you need further help with this.

No thanks, no help from you is needed. It must be nice to be independently wealthy. If you're working for Labcorp, please quit so someone who actually needs and wants the job can have it. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

In the meantime, I'll tell my wife and kids that some moron on Cafe Pharma says that it's better to be unemployed than work for Labcorp, as we sit down to another meal of spaghetti. Somehow I don't think they'll be convinced.

And you can take your "nuance" and shove it up your ass. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, and I know there's plenty of room because your head's up there already.

If your only choice in this matter is between unemployment and working for LabCorp; then I think your wife and kids already know who the moron is.

HAHA. Be sure to check back in with us after you've logged 30days. I get that you are unemployed and desperate so go for it. You do what you have to do and good luck. But if you need to network with people who work at LabCorp ....or contacts at the types of customers they have ...then my heart goes out to you.

Your frustration is more than evident in your posts. However, LCA is NOT the place to be, trust me. They, and "they" know who are they are, don't have a clue. You will be broke, angry, frustrated, pissed off... you name any negative emotion, you will have it working at LabCorp. If you think that the pay sucks, wait until you get a load of the cost for family plan medical benefits. Premiums just went up astronomically and now include a copay,as well, so believe me, they are really good at sticking it to the employees around here. They foster no loyalty yet expect you to throw yourself on the proverbial sword for them. Seriously, you might think that you could weather the storm for a little while but if you have ANY alternatives, I would strongly recommend that you pursue those options. There is not one iota of common sense anywhere in management; losing business out the wazoo and they can't figure out why; and the only people making money are the CEO and his cronies. Wishing you the best success in your search for employment!
