Oh Mother Merck: How did you pervert it all so?

So sad what this company has become. Once you start pitting sales reps against each other, it becomes very dysfunctional and ugly. We should be competing against other companies, not fighting like rats in a cage trying to down the last crumble of bleu cheese.

I can't believe a company can even function the way this one is managed. Too many folks, sending too many useless emails, and copying everyone under the sun on them for exposure...

Most of the personalities of the district managers, resemble that of Tot-Mom Casey Anthony...Narcaccistic tendencies, with sociopatholgical overtones...

it is a brave new world people...

They perverted it by putting all @ss kissing, backstabbing yes people in management positions that are not willing to question the status quo.

Some managers are so incredibly low they even try to pit reps against each other.

Mike George comes to mind. In his world, everyone is a pawn. If you're astute enough to know it (his boss isn't), you're gone. Of course, that is a stroke of luck, whether or not you realize it at the time.

Dummies to the left of me. Dummies to the right of me. Dummies, dummies everywhere...I think I need a drink. (a little literary mash-up/play on words for you dummies out there)

Merck has become exceptional at perverting things. Look no further than field sales. Too bad that's not generally viewed as admirable, for if it were, Merck could again be a top contender for "most admired" again.

If Merck has primarily perverted things for the last several YEARS, that probably reflects what Merck truly values. Not what Merck THINKS it values or what Merck SAYS it values but what it actually values. Either accept it and excel at it or get out of the way. Do not be surprised or victimized by perversity. It is status quo at Merck. However this value does not have much to offer anyone over the long haul and it is difficult to eliminate once entrenched. Employee beware.
