NVO one of the three worst performing pharma stocks of 2013

Good thing it's from a reputable source...the motley fool (fool.com). Good job buddy, keep up the good work.

Unfortunately you are the true fool. The Motley Fool has a pretty good reputation in the investment world. It's interesting that Sanofi and Lilly are the other two companies listed. I wouldn't be surprised if you retort not knowing what NNI has in common with the other two companies.

Regardless of the source of the article, the bottom line is that it was a tough year for NVO (and all three big diabetes players) as the stock performed in the bottom three of all pharma stocks. Hopefully we'll bounce back this year but the performance of 2013 was a far cry from all the years of NNI bragging about being one of the top stocks in the sector...

I guess we can ignore the previous 15 years when NVO has been the best performing stock in pharma.

By all means let's act like GM did in the 80s when Japanese car manufacturers started making more reliable cars with better fuel efficiency. Oh wait, lets pull an IBM when Mike Dell and Steve Jobs were cranking out innovative products in the early 90s. Yes, keep trumpeting our past success as proof of certainty of our glorious future. If you have any friends at Merck or Pfizer or Novartis, ask 'em how well that corporate mind set has worked for them over the past 5 years.

I hope that you're a HQ troll.

Agreed. As a former IBM'er, I witnessed first hand how IBM's arrogance led to it's downfall. IBM execs thought IBM was bullet proof and ignored a kid named Bill Gates when he showed up at IBM's doorstep with PC software he called "Windows".

While it's true that NNI and IBM operate in two radically different industries, if Novo's exec's are smart, they wont ever forget that somebody out there is looking to eat Novo's lunch. They need to remember that it's very possible that the competition might actually be capable of doing it. It's great to be in a position to point to Novo's very successful past, but it's the future that really counts.

Yes. You're right. Let's overract and start laying people off right now. Thanks for bringing me to my senses. We should view the Tresiba delay & the incretin safety issues that bridled our growth this year as complete game changers and begin slashing costs now. Since GM was once successful and then failed, the same must be true for NVO.

Glad we got that figured out.

You're the first idiot I would lay off.

Ah, let them wallow in their ignorance. Sycophants just like him/her used to do the same schtick at Pfizer, GSK, Merck and others. I used to chat with them at symposia and industry functions all the time. SVPs, RBD, AVPs, and marketing directors, mostly. Because of massive pharma downsizing, many of the above now run 1 or 2 people consulting agencies and hit up their former colleagues for a few bucks until their pension kicks in.

Pharma phools, we're called by most industries.

I keep hearing on here that our oral insulin is a sure thing by '18 , so that's why I keep sucking on the lapis bull's teat until then ;-)
