Now What?

With the ‘launch’ period over, what’s next? Rumor is leadership isn’t happy with either launch and frustrations growing with reps on top of each other. Realistically, will either product spike in the back half of the year?

The launch is officially over.

Questions to ask yourself for good CYA when the shit hits the fan because of poor sales of this ultimate me-too drug.

How many programs, lunches and snacks have you done? Have you done enough? Did you target the right people? Did you speaker whore earn their pay with a biased presentation? Did you disguise alcohol on the restaurant tab as an approved item? What % increase in calls can you do by lying? Are you giving a believable impression you are working 12 hour days? Are you asking your manager to ride with you, and if not why? Does your manager cut out early like mine, if so, that’s good blackmail ammo.

If you can think of a few pearls of wisdom, feel free to add them to my list.

The blame game will start. Reps will be blamed because they selected their targets, have smaller territories, etc. Yes, programs, lunches, calls per day will all be used to make reps feel like shit. Truth is market access and leadership are to blame as well.

You must be new to the industry. Blackmail? Really? If you were to play that card you need to prove 100% reach and multiple calls on all targets each month. Why would a manager leave early? Did you ask the manager to stay? Did you have offices to call on or just drop off info? You think a multi-billion dollar company is not going to check your millage with you calls? They have software to verify that. Dort forget are you logging your calls throughout the day or all at one time? Are you getting the point?

Jesus learn to proofread before you submit. Also keep in mind that reps have other approved ways to contact their providers beside face to face. Mileage means nothing if you have multiple telehealth providers.

I hope you are aware we are 'at will' employees. We can be let go at any time for any reason. They only have to make sure there is no discrimination - race, sex, age etc
If they start looking at mileage, receipts, call entry - you are as good as gone, better start looking.

Is there anything left to pay reps salaries after the billion dollar debt repayment ?

I haven’t worked a full day in years and don’t worry one second about mileage BS. My territory does not require me working a full day. I have been successful working a few hours here and there, so why change a good thing. Besides, my managers has NEVER worked a full day with me, so why should I?

I think you are taking the person literally. I think they were saying a company can figure out if you are working or not. Which if you are not working, you have no credibility and blackmail will not work.

Blackmail usually works. The person you are blackmailing may have the goods on you, but they don’t want to lose their job along with you. Only do it if you are in a desperate situation, very desperate.

Some valid concerns on thread, some paranoia. Compared to many other pharma companies, Teva management is pretty chill. Managers don’t want to be in the field any more than reps want them there. This isn’t a question of how many hours employees work, it’s a question of efficiency. Some days are longer than others. We are all in this position because we have experience and know how to manage effectively. Most territories have been reduced with the expansion and there are challenges each territory has. Simply manage and have ongoing conversations with your manager if you’re concerned.

And yes, there are some awful managers but that’s every company. I don’t think leadership is trying to catch anyone with two launches ongoing. They need all hands on deck without distraction.

Not really. All the manager has to point out is low call numbers, or really anything . Then you run the risk of being sued by the manager, the company and state/federal charges. You have to be really dumb to think about pulling something like that off. It's just not worth it.

Blackmail and extortion laws under 18 U.S.C. § 873 makes it a crime to use threats to persuade someone to provide you with benefits or compel them to act a certain way. It's a crime to use threats or extortion to persuade someone to provide you with benefits or to compel them to behave in a certain manner.

Not really. If you do have something you can use as leverage against someone, the chances are very good that person will do anything that is close to reasonable to keep the information from coming out. Therefore, it will stay between the 2 parties. It happens all the time. Remember, neither party wants to lose their job so they will likely want to “work things out to mutually agreeable solution”.
