Novo Nordisk plans 15 percent expansion of U.S. work force in 2012

Good luck to the "lucky ones" who remain. There are jobs out there with great companies.

Oh good, another pharma job. Some game, just a different name on the check.

Look at the industry and the insurance restrictions, government regulations and the more restrictive doctor office policies.

Only go to pharma is you cant find a real job that helps you develop professionally.

Novo Nordisk is an amazing company with proven products.

Not only drinking Kool-aid, but smoking something, too?
Seriously, this industry has been declining for years. The "Golden Era" of Pharma is over.
The "profession" (really, it's just a job anymore-no long term career potential), is one of the least respected in all categories. A used car salesman garners more respect than a Pharma rep.

Novo is going to a "pod" sales model. Let me ask you, how did that work for Novartis, Merck & Pfizer?
Use this time to go to school or gain the skills necessary to move to another industry.
I'm one of the fortunate ones who, through professional contacts, got out of Pharma and now have a true, professional sales position.

I read about this and was amazed they are expanding. They seem to be a good company but why not work with a lean and mean work force. Why keep hiring bodies to flood physicians offices? I can't imagine someone who was let go,fired, etc. ever wanting to get into pharma. It's a check,I get it. But,it's so degrading. All pharma companies are the same. Novo will hire so many more people that they'll block access for everyone else. Do these companies not learn anything from the past?

So.... you are saying that working at Novo Nordisk is the same as working at Novartis right now? Who's drinking the cool-aid? You brotha! Read about them. They have a future.

And they said the horse and buggy had a future, too!
Bahahahaha....
Novo=pod=failure/downsizing
Generics >75% of Pharma market
Stem cell research in Diabetics is advancing rapidly
Branded Pharma I'd dying.... Get it? Life support

Are you that naive? Think 10-20 years... No career

So they are expanding to lay people off? hmmm. Shmoron.

Shmoron, if you're looking for a CAREER, BRANDED Pharma is not the place. If you're looking for a short time gig, go for it. Just don't be surprised when you get ZERO respect when looking for a real sales job.

Keep drinking the Kool-Aid, young Jedi

Hey "Brotha". You are right "they" have a future. The reps do not. Its a worn out industry. Doesnt matter if you with Novo, Noartis, Merck, BI, GSK or any others. As a rep dont have the ability to really do anything worth a crap. Just keep pretending you are making a difference and then explain to me how vacant territories post good numbers.

Oh please, how long have you been in this business ? Its all about understanding the sales process and having the skill to establish relastionships and engage phys. in a dialogue long enough to get to a trial close. Learning " another " disease state is the easy part. The learning curve for new products is short.

P.S if you dont understand or agree with the above its probably because your new to the industry or just not very good at what you do.

Typical Pharma rep! Ha!
Remember, you're NOT a sales rep!

pharma reps are polished sales people. who else can make multiple cold calls, begin with a creative opener, offer features and benefits, probe, trial close and close. other sales folks dont even know what your talking about in re to this process. pharma reps can walk into a crowded room and identify personality traits and adjust presentations to match. Impressive group. i dont think the indusrty culture takes advantage of their talents but the training and execution is excellent. look in webster....sales is defined with a picture of a pharma rep!
