Novo Nordisk Diabetes Educator benefits

Hello I recently applied for one the diabetes educator position. Does anyone know what benefits the DE position provides ....such as fleet vehicle, mileage reimbursement, gas card, internet and cell phone reimbursement? Thank you!

Dont apply, this DE division is bound to be cut this next round. They are barely hanging on. BARELY. Sanofi cut their force years ago, GSK way before Tanzeum shit the bed, AZ 18 months ago, Lilly two years ago. Writing on the wall

Not true. Why are DEs still here after 7 years. They see some value in them otherwise they would have been cut in either of the 2 layoffs.

The DE's went untouched during the October 2106 layoff. Untouched. Not a single DE was let go. Yes a DE or two was cut in the 2017 layoff, but in comparison to the number of Rep's that were laid off, it was inconsequential. If that doesn't tell you how much upper management values The DEP, then nothing will.

If you think your job is safe just because the DE’s were untouched last time, you’re not very smart. They’re holding DE’s to the grind just to keep them employed. They’re doing everything possible to turn them into a rep little by little just to show some reason to keep them. They’re Time is coming and it’ll be faster than you think.

I do agree with you on them becoming more of rep than a diabetes educator.....

Thank you. I was going to post the same message. But then it's been said for years that eventually The DE's would become part of the sales force.

I've remained with Novo as a DE because I like the job as it stands today, and the pay and benefits (not to mention the car) are pretty good. But I've always known that should the day arrive when I'm more of a Rep than Educator, then I'll be gone.

And as all DE's know so well, we will have zero problems finding a replacement job. Maybe management understands that too. Maybe they know all too well that most DE's will leave if they decide to make Rep's out of us. Why we DE's could sort of nuke The DEP ourselves by voting with our feet! LOL!

You say you could find a job and you probably can. Even for more money, but you will work 60 plus hours a week instead of 30-40. Or you can go back to your clinic and make half of what you make with no to little retirement.

You say you could all walk....we will hold open the door. You’re not magical. Leave and the next day we will open and it would be ok. We will still sell insulin and GLP1.

My sentiments exactly!

I've often thought that The DE's own their own accord could gut The DEP.

Want to know how I ended up working for Novo as a DE?

I was never employed by Practice Therapeutics. I was approached by The Novo DCS that called upon the Diabetes Education Center I managed. Knowing that the hospital I was employed by was a financial trainwreck and very likely could close it's doors, I applied to Novo and got the job. (And yes, that DCS received a $3,000 reward for me being hired by Novo,)

One of the biggest reasons why I took the job (besides the salary, benefits and associated perks) was because it had no measurements associated with it that were applicable to Novo's DCS's. Had there been a sales quota, I never would have accepted the offer. If that ever changes, I'll definitely look for work elsewhere. We'll lose the car, but we need a new car anyway.

If you're a DCS reading this, ask yourself this question; How many targets that you call on have ever asked you if you were interested in working for them? It's happened to me, not once, but twice in two different offices. Can you say the same thing? I didn't think so.

The role of a DE has changed considerably since The DEP first started.

But the biggest threat to the existence of the program doesn't lie in DE's eventually becoming part of the sales force and as a result resigning in droves because they were converted to DCS's

When it first began, The DEP was headed by Patricia Bradley who at that time reported to Camille Lee. The value of the program to Novo's executive management was easily demonstrated. Now days, both CLEE and TRIB are no longer with Novo, and even ANAJ is gone. Doug Lanza, Dave Moore and The new ACL's don't have TRIB championing her pet project,The DEP, any longer. The current management team wasn't even with Novo when The DEP began. They may not share the perspective former leaders had. That's the biggest threat to The DEP.
