Novo is used to hiring "best of the best", will the DCA's ruin that image?

All the current DCS reps and above were top performers at their previous pharma companies. We are now opening the floodgates so just about anybody can get a job at Novo. Eventually, these DCA reps will become DCS reps and get in front of more important customers. Is this the image we really want at Novo? Having these unproven reps working for our company, will this dumb down our sales force?

Are you really that naive to not know that these DCA reps are going to be taking over your DCS positions? DCS's will slowly get managed out. Why do you think the company did this?

Times have changed, and the company realizes that DCS's are highly overpaid for what little work they do on a daily basis.

Be honest with yourself, and ask how much face-to-face time you get with your targets each day? If no meal is scheduled, it is less than 10 minutes per day. Most reps work 2-4 hours tops. Not because they are lazy, but because access is now so limited, what else can you do?

Relationships with physicians are a thing of the past, so it only makes sense to hire these young almost right out of college graduates to replace your position.

You best get your resume together, and start looking for a "real" job in the "real" world.

Also realize how much each territory generates in revenue. The pay is relative to the amount of sales generated.

Well, soon the pay will be relative to the amount of working hours.

Since most DCS's work a half-day, Novo decided they might as well be replaced by DCA's at half the salary of a DCS. That sounds fair doesn't it?

What company do you work for? Almost every DBM and DCS in my region came from another company. Many of them were quote unquote downsized, and came here looking for a job.
Thats what happened to my RBD. What, thee people sucked before they got here, and then became the best once they reported to Princeton? Stop being so freakin arrogant. We arent the best of the best. We're just fortunate that diabetes rates are exploding, and we have a nice portfolio.

"Best of the best"......give me a freakin break!

What makes you think that they aren't hiring the best of the best for this entry-level position? Again, ENTRY-LEVEL. Which means they will be trained the Novo way and will get more responsibility as their skill levels increases. They wont be paid anywhere near your enormous salary and they probably wont have as many responsibilities as you either. Why are you so sure that they will be hiring a bunch of dummies just because the newbies don't have a background in pharma sales?

Aint like what we do is neurosurgery. I'm a DCS with 5 years under my belt. I cant imagine an easier job that comps so well.

As my DBM told me 6 years ago, and I quote, "A trained monkey could do this job".

I can only agree especially now with such difficult access issues. You will have little face time with targets, and they are so tired of hearing your same ole market-speak. Just, "Can I sign something for you?". Now get the F**k out of my office.

I think you have a legitimate concern. Sad thing is rah few people in the industry have the high standards we have. We had to PROVE we are the best pharma reps in the country. Did these new flunkies have to do that to build their resume like we did?

Frankly I think they will become better reps in the long run. They are going to be trained the NN way, they have no baggage from other companies, the company is going to try to keep them away from the nay sayers. These reps are going to call on Drs that do NOT write any insulin, any scripts they get are gravy for the company...

And as your high paid A$$ gets PIP's out they will move right into your territory for 1/2 the money

Hmmmmm. Wonder if we could use the same model to rid NNI of the dozens of worthless DSMs?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I've heard these new positions are more about educating MD's that usually refer pts to specialists instead of writing scripts themselves. So, the reps in these positions need to have strong medical background and experience to educate and give courage to the MD's to write their own scripts instead of just referring pts to specialists. Does that sound like what others have heard?

No.

Wrong on all counts.

Wrong on all counts.

Young newbies with no pharma sales experience is what we seek for this position. Pretty much everyone else in higher ranks is from somewhere else (cast-offs, mostly). Our leaders want to show that if they hire and train up newbies "in the Novo way", they will end up surpassing their ex-BMS bosses one day.

No lie. My RBD actually said that!

I disagree. It's very simple to comprehend. NNI knows that the current DCS sales force is extremely overpaid, so they have decided to start replacing them with DCA reps at half the salary. Smart move for Novo.

A DCA can do exactly what a DCS can do. There is no need to talk about "job skills" or "relationships" with physicians when you get less than 10 minutes of ftf time with targets and work a half-day. Do ya think you really need to hire the "best of the best" to do that?

This Truth will hurt many of those who read it. It is especially true with 2 calculating and deceiving Podmates of mine who continue to make this job ridiculous for the rest of us.
