Notre Dame - Told ya so...

I was the one debating with Bama Boy (a few weeks ago) about why I thought Notre Dame deserved to be ranked #1 based on their pre-season toughest schedule and being undefeated.

Bama Boy argued that they barely beat an un-ranked Pitt Team - and I asked, "isn't it possible Pitt had the game of their life"?

Speed up 3 or 4 weeks...Pitt demolished a very good Rutgers Team. So Pitt was maybe a decent team, after all.

Notre Dame finished the year undefeated.

Hence, I was right all along - The team with the hardest line-up, earned it 1 game at a time.

The rankings are stupid anyway...USC was ranked #1 pre-season ( where are they now? )

Comments?

Well you were right and I have to eat my crow. Notre Dame has proven that they have an amazing defense. PITT did have the game of their life. Kind of like Texas A&M playing BAMA so tough in Tuscaloosa. BAMA did not close the deal like ND did against PITT. Texas A&M is a much tougher opponent than PITT but championship winning teams find a way to win.

Notre Dame reminds me of when BAMA reemerged on the national stage a few years ago. Everyone thought that they could not be back. Well Notre Dame is back and I think Brian Kelly will have them back for awhile. Kelly deserves Coach of The Year.

I am very interested to see if BAMA plays Notre Dame in the National Championship. Notre Dame has a dominant SEC style defense and they have a very similar SEC-Pro Style Offense. BAMA has struggled in the past few years against spread offenses and are better able to defend pro-style offenses, I think it will be down to what defense can make the most turn overs. I also don't think ND has played against a defense like BAMA all year long. Big 10, PAC-12 and Big East don't put as much pressure on the QB and that Frosh QB will be tested like he never has been before.

I was wrong about ND not beating USC so I could be wrong about them matching up against BAMA. ND does have the Pope on their side!

USC started a frosh QB with very limited playing time in 2012. Had Barkley been healthy USC would've eaten ND for lunch. But I too applaud Brian Kelly. I'm not going to take anything away from the man. He's done a super job. What a change a coach makes. Compared to Fatass Charlie, Kelly looks like Jesus Christ himself. So hat tip to Brian Kelly.

But I watched ND closely from the start of the season. That perfect record is based on pure luck and bad calls. Against Stanford that ND running back never made it into the end zone at the end of the game. It was a bullshit call at the golden dome stadium. ND stole that game.

Take the time to review their wins and scores:

Beat Purdue 20-17
Beat Michigan 13-6
Beat Stanford in OT 20-13 (Bad call @ end of game gave ND a TD they should NEVER have been credited with)
Beat F...ing BYU BARELY 17-14 (HAH!)
Beat PITT in TRIPLE OT 29-26 (what a f...ing joke)

So don't tell me that ND is a kick ass and take names team. They were just damn lucky this year. And I hope they get beat bad in the NC game. I hope someone beats them as bad as Oregon would beat them!

Here's the evidence that you can look at yourself:

09/01/12 vs. Navy Dublin, Ireland, W 50-10
09/08/12 vs. Purdue Notre Dame, Ind. W, 20-17

Great teams find a way to win - period!

When they played each of those teams listed above, what was that team ranked in the country?

Every one of those unranked schools have strong football histories - Not a cream puff in the bunch...

Please show me a more difficult schedule...Please.

Great teams find a way to win - period!

But the way a team wins MEANS SOMETHING that can't be overlooked, dipshit. If it takes a team 3 f...ing overtimes to beat PITT - trust me - they ain't #1 in the nation.

You f..ing catholics crack me up. You think Jesus is on your side. If Jesus was on your side you wouldn't have had more than a decade of shitty teams with losing records.

Smoke that!!! :D

Doesn't matter what those teams were ranked then.

WE KNOW HOW SHITTY THEY ARE NOW! :D

If PITT and BYU aren't creampuffs I'll kiss your ass. :D

You forgot to list PITT, Boston College and Wake Forest season records, shit for brains.

How about some full disclosure? Don't hide the shit you don't want us to see. It's deceitful.

ND is just f...ing lucky. Their margins of victory tell the whole story. They are like milk chocolate covered cow pies. You only see what's on the outside. But once you take a bite you realize you've been had.

And if that "Tao" clown from ND gets the Heisman I will never watch another college football game as long as I live. :D

BYU (National Champs in 1984) finished 7-4 and will be in a bowl game!

Now that is some funny, funny shit!! HAH! :D

Why don't you go back to the days of Knute Rockney and the Four F...ing Horsemen??? HAH!

Are you a f...ing government accountant or something??? Next you will tell us that trillion dollar deficit spending is good for the economy!!! HAH!

Funny, funny shit, man. Go do standup at Club 54~~ :D

A lot of similarities between Notre Dame and my national champion. 2002 "Luckeyes".

ND plays down to their competition.

Given the chickanery of SEC scheduling, ND has had a much tougher road to hoe than the Bamas of the world.

I will tip my hat to the SEC's onslaught of the ACC last weekend. But a big part of that was due to the SEC all having bye weeks the previous Saturday and resting all their players.

You can't fool all the people all the time.

Alabama has been installed as 10 point favorites over ND and Georgia is favored by 5 in case anyone gives a shit.

Notre Dame has had some tough opponents: Michigan, Miami, Stanford, USC (BYU-Kind Of)

Notre Dame has played some scrubs: Navy (Don't care if it was in Ireland-Navy is a scrub team), BC, WAKE, Purdue & Michigan State (No disrespect to Libs!)

Every major team has had some tough opponents and have also played some scrub teams. Notre Dame have beaten all of their opponents and all of their opponents have been Division 1AA Schools.

Yes USC was not at full strength because of Barkley not playing. Every team gets some luck during their season. Just look at how BAMA has had some luck with K.State and Oregon losing on the same weekend.

Notre Dame has played some great defensive football and that is why they have won. They are not a flashy fun and gun spread em out and score 60 points a game type of team. They win by playing sound fundamental defensive football. If they play BAMA they are going to meet a defense that will match up with them. I am interested to see how that Frosh QB will hold up under that kind of pressure. I know Manti Teo is great but a Freshman QB in a NC kind of pressure cooker situation would really concern me if I was a Notre Dame Fan.

Man you really don't know what the hell you are talking about. The SEC Office (Here In Birmingham) schedules SEC League Play Games during the season. The SEC Member Schools play (8 League Games Per Season) then fill in the rest of their schedule. The SEC is moving to (9 League Games Per Season) next year.

It is just smart scheduling to play a scrub team before your rivalry game. Georgia Tech played Duke before Georgia, FSU played Maryland (4-8) and Clemson actually had somewhat of a competitive game against NC State (7-5). The ACC should just schedule a scrub team before out of conference rivalry games. Now I do agree with you that some of the scrub teams the SEC scheduled are sub-par teams.

I think you also have a very selective memory concerning bowl games. I don't think you remember last year so I will help you thaw out your frozen Big 10 brain.

2011 Conference By-Conference Bowl Records:

SEC (6-3) Big 12 (6-2)

Big 10 (4-6)

PAC 12 (2-5)

Source: http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/16343161

You really should not talk smack about other conferences when your own confernce can't even win more than half the bowl games they are in....

If Oregon played ND Oregon would be 15 point favorites.

That gives you an idea of how f'ed up this NCAA football clown circus really is.

I just hope to F that Oregon plays an SEC team, especially Florida. I would sacrifice my left nut for that to happen! :D

Unfortunately it is probably not going to happen. I think K.State is going to be the bowl tie in-Tostitos or some bullshit like that.

Now Oregon Vs. Florida would be a good match up. With a healthy Chris Driskel back at QB for Florida I would have to take Florida over Oregon. Florida looked damn good against FSU this past weekend.

Just when I start to think that you got your shit together you blow it out of the water, BamaBoy.

Oregon would f...ing trounce Florida. Halfway through the 3rd quarter viewers would turn the TV set off and go get another eggnog and a handful of nuts.

Did you happen to watch Oregon play Oregon State. They f...ing pounded them into the ground 48-24.

You people down south must be drinking some heavy rot gut shit late at night. Lay off it. It's not good for your liver or your kidneys. And it burns holes in your stomach.
