Non Competes with Surgical Solutions

Why in the heck does the company want to be total dicks about this. There are a number of us who want to leave but the company is adamant about knowing who and why we are leaving and my understanding is they are preventing many from going to any medical company. If your employees dont want to be there then why not let them go? I also have heard that HR is preventing those recently laid off from going to work with other medical device companies that really have nothing to do with anything that Cov sells. This is a travesty. Shame, shame Cov. Why force someone to stay when they dont want to be around?

deep down they know that if you want to leave you are probably pretty smart and not the usual mindless robots that work at cov but they'll tell themselves they dont want you taking everything that THEY taught you somewhere else.... as if that is even possible!!!!

They bring in temps to do jobs that should be filled or backfilled by regular employees. They don't ask temps to sign non-competes. The temp's assignment ends and they're free to go. Meanwhile, J&J and Ethicon are free to pick their brains. And they do - especially for R&D and Marketing temps.

If you don't want your temps giving the competition downloads on what you're doing, either hire them or have them sign that non-compete.

If you r smart, you wouldn't tell them where you are going. Give your two weeks and keep the company name confidential. What can they do? Fire you, haha! Screw COV! Do what is best for you! That's what they do, right??

if you are laid-off or fired shouldn't the non-compete be null/void??? I can see where if you were to leave they could hold you accountable but not if the other occurs.

If you are fired or laid off the non compete is null, they cannot prevent you from earning a living. They can take action to prevent you from your new job, but should they do that they will actually wind up haiving to pay you to not work. It is like a year off with pay. As far as the poster who says "what are they going to do". Well, duh, sue you. That's what they are going to do, and they can also get an injunction to prevent you from working while it is being run through the courts. The only place none of this matters is California where the non compete is not worth more than the paper it is printed on.
