Non-compete & stock

Spoke with HR last week after I was told I was laid off. I asked about my stock vesting and they didn’t know. Said they’d check. No reply. Anyone else know?

Also, was reminded of the non-compete and working with the same customers. Is this legit? Thought it no longer counted since they laid me off. Any ideas?

Thank you for serious replies since HR not very helpful.

Amazing that thy don’t know what their policy is on vesting stock. It should be plainly spelled out.

as for the non compete. What a bunch of D bags! They laid you off. You can go to work for whoever you want. They may try and scare you with it, but it is basically unenforceable.

Anything not vested won’t be given. The non-compete is being waived. That was clearly laid out in the FAQs. The attachment answered most of my questions. I hope this helps.

Non competes are generally illegal in many states and non-enforceable. Considering that there was no business to speak of and the launch a total failure there is literally no business for you to steal if you go to a "competitor" so I would love to see Biogen try to keep anyone from taking another position

Plus, they waived the non-compete, so none of it matters. I’m pretty sure Biogen is not coming after you for something they clearly stated was waived when you were laid off. So, you can stop tough talking now.

I’m on the MS side and signed a non complete. I can’t find a copy, but I recall it saying that you can’t work for any company that sells anything that competes against Biogen. Does that mean that you can’t work for another company that has MS drugs, even if you would be working in another division and selling something completely unrelated to MS? I’m glad the non compete was waived for the laid off employees.

The one i signed states that you cant work on a competing product. You can go to a competing company but are not able to work specifically on a competing product within a year of leaving Biogen. You can get it waived by writing a letter and explaining what the new job is after you've been hired.

I have worked at 3 companies and all had non-compete clauses. I ignored it every time and 2 companies had direct competing products. They never contacted me and they knew because my old DM told them!
