Here is an excellent analysis showing there is NO need to increase taxes. In fact, instead of planning for increased spending each year, very modest cuts are enough to balance the budget! There is no need to burden people with more and more of their paychecks disappearing when many, including businesses, are saving against uncertainty, or are making up for lost wages of a spouse or dependent.
But as I've explained before, this demagoguery is based on the dishonest Washington practice of assuming that spending should increase every year, and then claiming that a budget cut takes place anytime spending does not rise as fast as previously planned.

So, all the malarky about draconian cuts being needed or that taxes absolutely must increase is nothing but gamesmanship and manipulation.
