No need for managers

Let's face the fact that the need for the role of manager is minimal. The new model should be an admin. assistant and trainer and the region level. The admin. Assistant can handle approval of ER and things like budget usage etc. the regional trainer can rotate and ride with any newer reps and the occasional problem rep. Any teleconference responsibilities can funnel through either the trainer or the CBD.

I don't think you get it. The model is a house of cards. You are correct that mgrs. aren't needed (at least at the levels they presently occupy). But if those #'s are reduced, so are the CBD's, EBD's, PSS's, etc....

No one wants to put their job in jeopardy. Just keep whistling past the graveyard and shut-up.

Our leaders think DSMs need to ride with reps 150 out of 220 days. Subtract 50 office days you have 170. Mandatory meetings like FLM and BEM is 10 so 160. Every day is a ride along and we wonder why a DSM does not understand the business or the numbers or the customers or anything that matters since all they do is watch reps go through the motions and then they have to document every single day to prove they work and the rep works.

And so it continues on and no one has the courage to say enough already

The DM model in pharma is THE most antiquated management model in all of industry! The problem is, they are not intelligent enough to come up with the obvious solution, and that have the "DM" deal with key accounts and new reps only. They can carry on their administrative duties as well, but constant field rides are useless

Managers are the most worthless, overpaid people of the pharmaceutical industry. For your next field ride, book two lunches on the same day in your territory. You show up at one and make your manager show up to the other one at the same time. Make them work rather than fill out pointless "coaching field ride forms"

I'm a DM and let me start by saying, fuck you. If any of my reps pulled this shit, I would immediately start riding their ass. You're such an idiot to think you can control the situation. Your manager can make your life Hell if they play it right. I hope they do loser. Glad your base is like 75k. Bwahahaha!!

Hey calm down buddy , you know the deal , some of you guys get it and some don't . The knuckle head above has a jerk for a manager. We all know the deal, except corporate can not send out a mandate to field managers and tell them to play it as they see it , managers need to do what their specific division calls for and give corporate what they need . My guy gets it he leaves me alone and let's me guide my two partners . I have over 30 years of experience.

This is true and ridiculous. The offices in my district are so sick of seeing my manager . If not with me , my partner. Our top target doctors are starting to feel aggravated. 150 days is obscured.

Set them up to take a sales call from start to finish. After all the Physicians see them as much or more than us. Challenge them to show you what they expect in a call. If they won't or they can't, either way you win because they will avoid you like the plague. It worked on my manager and now it is one excuse after another about why they can't work with me or have to cut out early.

Doctors aren't the only ones that are aggravated, reps are too! I see mine twice a month! I'm so frustrated with the situation and my manager nitpicking everything that I'm actively looking for another opportunity. AZ culture is really bad. Hate it here.

Plus they have to do the same product training as we do, prepare endless slides for business reviews, and sit through more teleconferences than anyone should have to....I wouldn't want their job....no freedom, just expectations that none of them can obtain...
Even though mine works with me 1-2x a month, he understands he can't go in over half of my offices.
