No Axe yet. Maybe there will not be one.

Everyone is predicting a large layoff. What is management telling the workforce. Certainly if there was going to be a large layoff management would tell you when it will occur and approximately how many people will be laid off.

If Valeant follows their previous model you will not be notified ahead of time. Medicis employees were notified of their status the day of close and it was a complete surprise.

You are correct that the layoffs are rumored to be deep, which is also consistent with the Valeant model. Throw out logic as it relates to the business or compassion to the employees. What ever you believe is logical the opposite will happen.

having just gone through a layoff and been through multiple ones before, an employer can give you 2 weeks pays in lieu of notice at a drop of a hat.

most everyone is at will. means no protection at all. day labor for a day's pay. no more no less.

Either you are a complete idiot, or you are just trying to get this very reaction.

Does anyone remember what happened last year when we aquired Ista? Wasn't 2 months after announced, and Bausch barely gave its laid-off employees a severance. Have fun in fairy tale land!

Idiot! Have you read the Valeant posts?

Agree, people saying there won't be any cut in the next coming months are idiots. BUs consolidation under the "Eye care" division is coming as soon as next week (country managers) ... some have already be given the advice to spend what they've to spend before end of July (yeah, I said JULY).

I predict 3 months from now not one person will be let go.

You're almost right, in 3 months from now not one person will be left ...

Same thing. Saw a bunch of job openings down in Tampa and in Greenville. Seems like business as usual for manufacturing locations. I don't get it at all, would they hire just to layoff?

They would hire to relocate D&R. Why keep Rochester when you can do D&R right at the manufacturing sites. Saves lots of money. Rochester is a ridiculously expensive operation for what it produces if you do not plan on researching early stage product development. Rochester is the target.

I'm confused, there was an opening in WBarre posted ! Are layoff coming? Or interviews?

No- the rep was NOT laid off he went to surgical. The interim manager JY is interviewing-that is not an indication that everything is all honkadory! We are a will. There has been WAY too much audio silence from upper management. Best thing to do is to always be ready for the what if's. Have your resume updated, have a game plan and really be mentally ready. If you have been here over the last three years you KNOW how different every thing is. Not much of a classy organization of years past. Political shit show. Reps who have not "followed the handbook rules" getting promoted over others more tenure & QUALIFIED. You know who you are up there in the home office. Think of this as a sign to seek a new opportunity. Take control of your destiny, don't let someone else make that decision for you.
