New job... would love input

I am interviewing next week as a part of the expansion. Can anyone tell me the market share for your products as well as the biggest competitors? Thanks!

Don't waste your time. We are all looking for other employment. At least tell us where your are coming from so we can interview for your former job.

I was just laid off so my old job is not available any more. Even though you may be leaving, I could use a job now, so I would really appreciate your help. I can't find the information online and am trying to prepare for the interview. Please help!

unemployed.. sure take the job if you can get it. But depending on where, what state, which manager. It could be a decent gig or a horrible existence. The negative posts on this board on not just from bitter bottom 10%. Former award winner here, top 10, left last year and I am telling you the RX division is a disaster. Horrible organization to work for. Only place I would work would be under TP under DG. That's it. Anywhere else and you are going to have to deal with a lot of garbage especially under KK in the west. really bad place to have to go to. Consider positions outside of pharma. You are weakening your resume going to work for B&L I promise you that.

Read the threads about the "Graveyard is getting crowded" to understand who is pulling the strings from above at B&L (the owners) and also read the "Global Human Resources Transformation" thread. They just hired a guy who has left a pile of bodies in his wake. The guy running B&L is Fred Hassan who has sold out every company he has ever run. They were making a play at selling B&L to the J&J crowd and the administration at the time reflected this (all former J&J). When they realized this was never going to happen they sent the lot of them packing and inivited Fred to liquidate this thing. Hang on to your hats this is going to be a bumpy ride into a mountainside!

If J&J did a review of B&L and decided against buying it then it is likely that other buyers will also see the problem with buying the whole thing. Just not a viable company at the price that WP is asking for. The company is all set up to sell the parts. Surgical centered in California. Pharma in three separate locations. Vision Care in Rochester.

The best play is to sell surgical first as soon as possible. This brings in the cash to clean up the rest of the business. Next sell Vision Care at a reasonable price. Probably Cooper Vision will buy it. Last sell Pharma. Not a lot of buyers for Pharma but perhaps it could be merged into another WP company and be a viable unit.

It would be smart to do this as soon as possible. Buying B&L takes a competitor off the market and allows for increasing the price of products. Every year they wait to sell this thing probably drops the value of the sale by 10% or more.

Look for things to happen fast in 2011

Thank you for all of the input. I appreciate your insight into the company. I am still having a hard time figuring out what the biggest competitors are and the challenges to selling Lotemax, Alrex and Zylet. I can't find anything on the market share of the products since 1999 either! I'd still love help before my interview! Thanks.

The reason you can't find anything on market share is because it keeps going down and is only a small percent of what it used to be. The pipeline is dead (so don't believe anything they tell you about anything else showing up). This place has been on market for quite a while and there aren't even any nibbles. Novartis just bought Alcon and the word is they are going to crush us even more.
