Is it normal? What- to post stupid things here and wonder why people think you are a dickhead? Yes, it's normal. LMAO

In the past they have selectively done that with new hires which they felt were worthwhile. It caused some conflicts in a cluster. Several started right off with three weeks. But that was before all the layoffs.

You have just hit the nail in the head-THEY PAY YOU LESS! at least get something that it may appear worth staying-vacation. but then again if you are stupid, you know you can get more than that if you are really using your brain!

They gave you 27 days vacation! How many years in the industry? That is really great. Good for you! I would keep your kisser shut on that one. YOu will alienate a lot of the Merck people when they hear about that. Most get less than 3 weeks. The very good, qualified ones that stayed because of their excellence and survived a lot of downsizing probably are getting 4.

Agree...sounds like a BIG HR mistake. Came with years of experience in industry, grad degree and got less than 3.

New Hire ....people here wondering about where they can fit in to keep a job and people are being hired from the outside?????

Seems we should be limiting outside hires and use the talent here.

Are you from the USA? If your from Germany, you start off with 5 weeks vacation from day you start plus personal time. That is why opening shop outside the USA is not very cost affective in a lot of places.

That is the stupidest thing you could do. You would have to train someone new on process, skill level, and overall effectiveness. The only reason why that could be done is to get people moved out. There is no intrinsic value short or long term. The business model is flawed to the point it could have been written by someone in high-school. The main reason why experience people are necessary is because they have knowledge when thing go down hill to adapt and adjust to situations. It stops minor issues from becoming epic failures.
