An Ethicon surgeon trialed a new Black load in my hospital today. As expected it malfunctioned and locked up. We are a Covidien Hospital and tried the New Powered Stapler as well. After the fiasco, all anyone could talk about is when Ethicon will come up with any product of their own and stop copying Covidien. Really, a black load now? This is one company I would never want to work for!! All you have is Harmonic and Suture. R&D must be non existent in this company! Time to look for a new gig Reps!

It's an all pharma show now, and all to drive margin. Analysts asked Bill twice about future investments in med tech. Each time the answer was about a pharma product. Even asked directly about energy and robotics investments, the reply: "we're positioned right now is where we ought to be".

The board has set the bar pretty low for our competitors. All Covidien, Applied, or Innovative have to do is deliver a little more innovation than J&J and they will roll General Surgery up like a rug.

But the analysts don't have to worry, Bill will make the margins by adjusting expenses. Really time for a new gig!

Should have seen the writing on the wall when our draws were taken away , and salaries increased. Im in way to long to leave . But have zero motivation , no carrots ... have all the awards many clubs, . Can only loose my self respect a couple of times .
But we will be looked at as a great start company from the beginning , but now we are in a mature market driven company.

was in a case today where at TA and an EEA both malfunctioned! ha ha it was great! the covidien rep was there and must have shit himself because that is what it smelled like in the room!

more like ......"thats great that you can sell shitty covidien staplers that cause major problems for patients but who gives a fuck because we won the contract on PRICE and these surgeons that want ethicon now have to use covidien."

if you had an ounce of integrity you would get a job with a reputable organization that sold quality products. sure it your staplers might work 49 times out of 50 times but it is that one case where your EEA does not work and that patient ends up with a colostomy bag for the rest of their life.

funny you say that cause i was just in a case where i noticed the surgeon use an eea stapler wrong. i told the covidien rep so that he could handle the situation to prevent the possibility of harming the patient. that is how it is done!

fact is we are all stuck with commodity products and really nothing new is on the horizon. our opcos will merge our teams together and time will only tell what that is going to look like. I really think that middle management and those on the inside are going to get hit the hardest. we don't need three marketing teams etc..
