New district and territories

When will we know the new district and territory footprints? I know some in my pod won't stay if there are overnights. What is sad is that thiis person will be the one that is kept and then they will find another job as soon as possible leaving the rest of us in the cold. I'm hoping they'll announce the new territories so that those people who don't want them will start looking now for a new position and let the people who want to stay have a better chance!

Are you insane? Whats wrong with you. You may be getting the ax with the rest of the 60%. How arrogant and naive you are. How old are you? 20 something, blond, and female. OMG. Do you really think that they will not be cutting again. Do you think that everyone getting cut wants to look for a new job. Hell no because there are no jobs out there. Yes, pharmaceuticals is not the job it used to be and the industry is going to hell in a hand basket. However, nobody wants to leave especially the ones that have over 10 years with the company or are in their late 40s and 50s. You bet they will be cutting again and rumor is in the fall. Nobody is safe especially the 40% that survive because the overall plan is to eliminate another 65% so if you have 800-900 reps left Novartis will have about around 400 by 2013. Words of advice to you my little naive friend. Novartis does not care about you and they only see you as a number. Grow up and start looking for another job or go back to school and get a real degree. I bet your degree is in fashion design. They will not announce anything because there is no set territory and never will be. They are called temporary territories and will never be safe.

If he gets the job, and there are overnights he will look for a new one immediately but I won't be able to come back when he finds one because I will have taken the severance. I'm hoping they announce new territories soon so he will start looking now!

Thats not a man... That has to be a woman acting that Bitchy! A woman who got a 1 I bet! I'm w/ you .. What you are saying is the people who really dont want to go usually get laid off. Only to take a severance and not be able to come back when the real losers leave anyway! Don't feel bad about liking your job!

It's not about liking your job. It is about the harsh reality of the industry. For those people who want to stay, great, but you are staying under the guise of security. The above poster is correct. There WILL be another downsizing soon after this one. All primary care products will be generic in the next two years. If you think staying here is the better option, you might want to reevaluate the situation. Don't celebrate if you make the cut, for it will be short lived. Products such as Arcapta, Ilaris and Gilenya are not going to make it unfortunately. Mix that together with the constant product recalls, FDA letters to plants, bad press and no pipeline and you are in for a turbulent ride until the end of the year, at which they will show you the door. Again, it is unfortunate, but not unpredictable. My advice is if you are not cut, to get out ASAP.

New territories will have 1 or 2 reps per territory -

If you are in a 1 rep territory, and you want to stay, that is the best scenario,

If you are in a 1 rep territory and really want to go, spend your personal days and vacation days wisely and start looking. You could make it to the next severance, but maybe not,

If you are in a 2 rep territory and you hate it here and would have preferred a severence, start looking as above. A 2 rep territory is a 2 person horse race to see who is retained at year's end, but if you really want out, throw the race but not so badly that you are canned before the next severance.

If you are in a 2 rep territory and want to stay, you will work hard, and if your counterpart wants to go, it may be easy to keep your job. Who knows though how they will separate you out on the objective side. Likely you will lead with one product and your counterpart will lead with the other. Values and Behavior should be easy to figure, unless both of you want to stay.....then it may be a miserable dogfight until the next layoff.

By all accounts the industry has died as we know it and now the corpse is rotting. It is starting to stink and even a good severence will get to the point where it is not a strong enough perfume to mask the horrible smell.

You must be on of those broads that thinks if you survive that your career is safe for 20 more years. Wake up because they will cut again in the fall. You will be lucky if you last a year. Everyone needs to do some serious self-evalutions on what other alternative to take. Instead of finaglin you position think about alternative careers change that may be of interest to you. Its easy to sit back and think how to save a job but these jobs are going to be gone and you need a plan B. The person above is right and thinking the way you think will land you a perminant career flippin burgers of doing a poll dancing at the local strip joint.

You sound like someone like I worked with a while ago. A backstabber who thought she knew it all and had it all figured out. Would sell anyone down the river for a favorable in with her boss. Well it didnt work out for her in the end so be careful about salivating for someone else's job. It will absolutely bite you in the end.
