does anyone have any information on new contracts in the works? it does not seem like new contracts occur that often at publicis?

I just had an interview today for a contract position with Otsuka for Breathtek. I don't really understand how the rep would get proper credit, though. If the doctor sends the patient to Quest to get the test, they send it to another city and state for processing, where there is another rep who works directly for Otsuka. How would the proper rep get credit? Also, the major health system here shows on their lab instructions that they send it all the way to ARUP in Salt Lake City for processing and gives instructions to the docs to order the kits from ARUP on their contract, so the kits are not ordered directly from Otsuka. I just don't see how they'd be able to track where the orders are coming from to give proper credit. I know that ARUP will not supply that information. It seems ridiculous to me that they are sending this point of care test so far to be processed and that very few labs have this inexpensive point of care equipment in house. I was very, very unimpressed with the Publicis manager who interviewed me and not much more impressed with the Otsuka manager. I asked them what the criteria was for deciding which territories get a direct Otsuka rep and which territories get a Publicis contract rep and they seemed to double talk and sidestep the question. They did the same when I asked how they would be able to track orders and give credit to the proper rep, basically gave me a non-answer, then said they were in the process of changing all that so that it is tracked back to the zip code. The salary they offered is way lower than my last job, too.

Here is a new coontract. Get out of the contract gig it is only a job that will last for a year or two if you are lucky. You will be treated as a second rate rep by your parent company and never get credit for your effort. Your new contract could start today if you are smart enough to get out of the pharma business. Don't settle for being someone who has a job only to loose it and start over in a year with hope of getting a new one. Better to be unemployeed and look for a career than be underemployeed by a company that only hires bodies to read a message sent from parent company then tossed to the side when your year is done. If you like living your life a year at a time with hope things will change. Just look where our president has got us with that hope and change message. In this case as one who spent almost 20 years in the business. The grass is truely greener on the other side.
