Dear NSBU mgt leadership team, hi it's me, struggling long time sales specialist here. Just trying to grind out my gilenya quota you so generously raised this trimester despite my business trending down the last 6 months (thx Ocrevus!!) A favor if I dare ask? Enough with the monthly ride alongs with my manager. I'm running out of places to go. I've been told by some offices, "hey, are you ok? Why do you always have your boss with you?"....great! They think I'm on like Rep probation! Others have asked I don't bring my boss in. So really, does it matter that much to you all powerful leadership types sitting at HQ that he 24-26 times a year OVERSEES me do my job? im an adult. I've been doing this a long time. Gilenya isn't being written in my territory bc it has perceived safety issues and is also next to impossible to start. There . I said it. Maybe own that rather than ram field rides on us. This isn't a frequency issue morons.

260 monday to friday days a year

2 weeks vacation, 3 days sick, 2 weeks meetings, 10 days holiday

227 days in the field

24 -26 days with manager
2-5 days with other Novartis employees

10-12% of my days I am being watched

Do the customers think there is a problem? of course. No other company is doing this.

What experienced rep in their right mind would put up with this? There are many other jobs available where field rides are 4 times a year or when requested. Why do you think turnover is so high?

This has been happening for years and upper management must know. Since no changes have been made so far, don't expect changes to occur in the future.

I really think it is the only thing for first line managers to do. They have no more authority than the reps, have to flex their muscles. Most sales positions (and I use the term loosly) do not have babysitters. I have never understood why it is an exclusive pharma club

i actually asked my manager why he's always riding with us and he said it's not his call it's a mandate from above. he actually apologized and said if it were up to him it would be less. He knows it's killing morale

Killing Morale = Large turnover

It could take years to build great relationships with the physicians. These relationships are gone when the rep leaves. They leave because of management field rides. So is the babysittiing worth losing relationships and sales?

Manager field visits are the most embarrassing part of this job, and that says a lot as this job is a joke. Managers are either dinosaurs who sold by bribing 30 yeas ago or are babies who sold their soul and drink the corporate kool-aid and know nothing about medicine.
